According to my girl, you will be considered late if you tap into the gantry after 7.50am. The first lesson starts at 8.15am, wednesdays start at 9.15am. I am not sure how much is considered as 'sufficient' but I give $30-$35 a week.[/quote]

They can only tap out of the gantry at 1.15pm. Otherwise, they can’t leave the school.

I'm not a parent volunteer but SOTA has a rather active parents' association. I dont think it's a daily commitment (secondary school kids don't need parents to supervise during recess etc haha) but their PSG organises a lot of activities (e.g. Year 6 dinners, racial harmony day, teachers' day celebration, CNY goodie bags etc).

You can sign up to be a formal member (there'll be a recruitment drive when school starts) or just join them for ad hoc activities.

Some kids do go out after 1.15 to get food, walk around, esp if there is a long break between end of the formal timetable for that day and their next lesson/activity (eg. dance classes that start at 5, 530, or touch rugby that starts at 7).

MOE says they need to wait for S1 posting date to come out then registration dates are the same as MS schools. Can anyone from last year’s cohort advise? Trying to change travel dates to accommodate it but it’s quite difficult getting a clear date.

Once you accept CO from SOTA you will not be able to participate in S1 posting. So you will follow SOTA's dates and not MOE' s dates on S1 posting.

Yes this is what I understand too. But I just spoke to SOTA who were unable to confirm the date of registration as they said that this date is determined by MOE. They advised that I call MOE directly. MOE rep then told me that it is subject to the S1 posting date. Conflicting information.

Last year, in addition to the official MOE Sec 1 reporting day (i think that’s what you mean, i.e. the day the kids have to report to school), SOTA had a couple of days in the week before that for you to report.


For example, I think last year’s reporting day was 23 Dec. In addition to 23 Dec, SOTA gave us the option of reporting any day between 12 - 16 Dec. If you reported between 12-16 Dec, no need to report again on 23 Dec.

This is in contrast to most schools, which will require you to report on the actual reporting day (in the above example, it would be 23 Dec), regardless of DSA or not.
