Not unfair bcoz WL depends whether after all CO accepted anyone release. If no places released or few places offered to WL in queue and u are down the line, no chance to convert WL. But yr CO remains. You cannot participate in S1 posting thereafter once u exercised yr Options Form.
Agree. If a child has a CO, he/she earned it. However that school may not be their first choice, and if their first choice is one that they are on WL, they may want to try that as first choice, and the CO as 2nd choice would be their \"guaranteed\" option. -
Snsn:
Hi Esteema, can I clarify if you mean that the sequence of choice if all are WL will have an impact on posting? Cos I read this on MOE website and I'm abit confused. It says that the allocation will be done based on the school's waiting list ranking and not on the student's order of choice. Thanks for your help on this
If Sch A is yr child's dream school, put it as 1st owise indeed u'll loose the chance for conversion.Estéema:
Hi,
Need advice on 2 waiting list.
Sch A
WL number revealed to parents, school said if you put in 1st choice, Good chance of getting in.
Sch B
WL number not revealed. Very small dsa number. Child preferred school
If we put in
1. Sch B
2. Sch A
If #1 not converted to CO, then we will lose the WL for sch A?
How does 2 WLs work?
I cannot assess Sch B bcoz the sch did not indicate to you chances. But since both WL, Sch A better chance, unless yr child not interested in Sch A.
If no interest in sch A, then work hard for PSLE for sch A.
If anyone hv CO & WL, yr selection of WL as first choice will not cause you to loose yr CO. That's the easier one to make decision if child like both schools.

Hi Snsn,
It will be based on MOE's queue & beyond each school's ability to help any student to convert.
The strategy to put a WL list before a CO or a preferred WL over ano not preferred WL is to hopefully hv the 1st choice WL get converted as applicant put this as top choice and not 2nd line consideration.
For a case with CO & WL, it's very clear to try put WL ahead as 1st choice in the event someone did release a place & u're next in the queue. But for others WL as 2nd choice, unless still hv places & not hot after, may be converted.
Option Form Scenario 1
1. WL School A
2. CO School B
Option Form Scenario 2
1. WL School B
2. WL School A
Candidate's choice of WL for School B slimmer chance.
Candidate's choice of WL for School A Higher chance for conversion, failing which CO is at hand to kick in.
If School A is not child's choice School, we will advise our child to focus & work hard towards PSLE to get in choice if School.
*. This not taking into consideration other factors of IP vs Express course, sort after CCA, etc. -
Rainbow sky:
Yes, that's right. The WL students will be ranked by the school and submit the list to MOE. Once all the students submit their option form to MOE, they will know how many CO are taken and how many declined the offer, or even how many actually reject the waitlist offer too. After all these have been calculated, MOE will know how many WL to be converted to CO (according to the ranking list given by school) and this will be make known to the child on the day when the result is release.kay22:
We attended a session at HCI too, for DSA students, they do not need to meet the COP. Those who are on waitlist now, to convert to CO, they must meet cut-off for express stream (200) and of course subjected to the vacancy available for WL. For all WL students now, their names have been submitted to MOE. Their system will generate who to be converted to CO if we submit the option form which will given to our DC on 30 Oct by their primary school. So on the actual day of results release, we will know if our DC is offered a place or rejected. If is rejection, then our child will have to follow the S1 posting.
All WL will be submitted to MOE? So allocation to WL after this is done by MOE rather than school? -
Estéema:

You might want to check this again with the school. According to the CO letter I've received, the place is only confirmed if my child ranks it as first choice in the option form. -
Snsn:
Thanks for your explanation Esteema, much appreciated. Assuming both WL are for non affiliated IP routes, with no indication on available spaces - would it mean that if I don't get into choice #1, then I would still stand a chance in choice #2 school based on their ranking of my application, and not the sequence of my choice. Is this the correct interpretation. TIA as always.
Sorry. I lost u there in your latest question.

Without details of yr choice & its bkgrd e.g. whether affiliated sch, appln is IP or Express, etc. Everything else equal, I'm only looking at the sch that indicated to u \"number\" of WL places, and the sch alr indicated to you \"good chance of getting in\". As I say, only if sch A is yr child's choice.
One thing is clear, there is NO privilege for all IP applicants/applications. It's purely by merit, interview assessment for some sec sch based on portfolio & performance.
CO is alr confirmed. So there is NO worries to put as 2nd choice, if want to try getting WL converted. -
Estéema:
Thanks very much Esteema for the detailed and clear explanation! Appreciate your effort in the details.

Hey, Snsn, can't catch up with u leh. Aging fingers can't type fast. -
So even if sch A is NUSH WL, sch B is RI CO. RI CO will not be lost if we place it second choice ??Really want to know. Thank you!

1. I've got the briefing slide (so kept reviewing it)
2. Based on a few other KSP gourmets alr consistently indicated, a CO is confirmed & allows u the space to try snag WL as choice School, owise can accept CO hence put as 2nd choice. You will definitely not loose yr CO, unless child cannot meet minimum of COP of Express Stream.
