      Strange !

First time, hear of such case.

Btw, the correct telephone no is 354-1839, Not 345-1839 (my apology)

Because last year (2016) : COP for SNGS O level was 253, while COP for IP was 257.
253 and 257 are very high.
So, they may not be looking at 200.

When you call them tomorrow, clarify with them, \"Does it mean that if my daughter's PSLE T-score were to fall within a certain minimum Range, means the WL (Waitlist) will qualify her for O level track, whereas if her T-score were to fall under another much higher range, means she qualify for IP track \"?

Then, u have to ask them : what exactly are these 2 different Ranges ?

Thanks a lot for the guidance - in the moment of confusion, we didn't even think to ask these questions. Thank you! I'll update tomorrow so other parents can take this for future reference if applicable.

I have checked with SNGS earlier and their reply was \"in line with MOE guidelines, with a CO, a place in our school is reserved for your daughter as long as she qualifies for the Express course based on her PSLE results\". So I believe she just needs to qualify for the national Express COP to enter IP. Nevertheless, you can call the school to check again.[/quote]Thanks curis77! I just spoke to them as well and essentially the same reply. Except that they couldn't quite answer why 2 WLs were given for both tracks.

        Need ur advice.

My child has CO from Sch A and CO from Sch B.
Sch A 's criteria is to meet the min cut off for express stream and Sch B dun have criteria as it will still take in my child.

My child prefer Sch A and wanted to give up Sch B.

If in the option form, my child did not put Sch B as 2nd choice and does not meet the criteria for Sch A. Will my child go thru Sec 1 posting route?
Actually the min requirements for A and B are the same if both IP. It's stated on moe website, maybe school B just didn't show as B thought we all know?

For A, if it didn't state the exact t-score, it's 200. Don't worry, DC can make it.

Talking about giving up, perhaps on hindsight should not hv applied dsa using sports, R is very niche in selecting sports teams as all their sports are very strong. academic and other special interests might be easier?

I believe it's a combination of factors. There were sports domain applicants to RGS in previous years who were with their respective sports national team but did not make it through DSA sports.

Did you trace which Officer-in-charge drafted the response letter ? Then, ask to speak to this particular, specific Officer, why 2 track

Your daughter DSA via subject domain, Sports or via Leadership ?

Can u recall on that day of interview, who were present inside the interview panel, together with your daughter ? Principal, VP (academic), HOD (specific subject domain) or other personnel ?

            (They are the decision-makers)

My friend has this problem. Her DD was unsuccessful from Sch A but received a CO from Sch B. Her choice school is really Sch A. Now her dilemma is whether to reject CO from Sch B and try her best in PSLE to enter her dream Sch A (but risky because you won't know the results until Nov), or to accept CO from Sch B but with possible regret if PSLE results good enough to enter Sch A? Any parents with past experiences (successful and unsuccessful ones) to share?

Hi mommyNg, Similar situation as dc's GEP classmate. Send you PM in a jiffy.

              Thanks ntnl!

My dd really like her sports, but she thinks her CO sch may not be as strong, so she thinking of giving up n use PSLE results to go rgs, but then I told her u get kick out of sports domain mean the team they choose is much stronger than u, if end up get into the sch also no guarantee can play for 1st team. Quite confident can get in using results, but there is always a IF, as rgs cannot afford any margin of error

yes, this is a dilemma that some parents are caught in.

On one hand, u only half-hearted to accept CO from school B, no wish to be locked inside the signed DSA contract with MOE for 6 long years, if accept B's CO.

On the other hand, risky because not sure if child is able to score above the high COP in school A via Psle T-score, if were to give up B's CO.

                  E.g.

                  school A : (R or H) family

school B : received CO, from other school

Not unfair bcoz WL depends whether after all CO accepted anyone release. If no places released or few places offered to WL in queue and u are down the line, no chance to convert WL. But yr CO remains. You cannot participate in S1 posting thereafter once u exercised yr Options Form.

You might want to check this again with the school. According to the CO letter I've received, the place is only confirmed if my child ranks it as first choice in the option form.

Thats exactly what is written in my son's NUSH WL letter too.... it clearly says place is Only confirmed if you put NUSH as your 1st choice.

I agree that if her priority in choosing RGS is for her sport, then she may not get into 1st team, as the DSA girls would most likely fill those places. Thus if her main priority outside studies is to play that sport representing the school, then the CO will be the better choice. RGS may be better than the other school for the sport, but if she doesn't get to play for the school, it may not be an ideal outcome for her. Depends on her expectation.

Thanks for the kind parents who shared inspiring stories! I wonder if there are cases where DC gave up CO, but PSLE results couldn't make it to either schools? 😢 Want to have as realistic a picture as possible.
