Hi. My DD (not even sure what DD stands for??) received CO for SOTA and also a letter notifying us that she has been shortlisted (unexpectedly!) for Scholarship interview. Does anyone know how many in each cohort are offered scholarships? Any experienced parents/students here that may be able to shed some light as to what my DD can expect in the interview?
Can i know did you recieved this in a seperate letter or together with the CO letter? Just curious as a few parents in a group chat is toking and asking abt this. -

This concerns me too my old child is really spoiled and goes shopping like nobody business. Are the students allowed to get out of school during school hrs?
Some kids do go out after 1.15 to get food, walk around, esp if there is a long break between end of the formal timetable for that day and their next lesson/activity (eg. dance classes that start at 5, 530, or touch rugby that starts at 7).
Catz2222:

What artform is your DD from? Can share? I heard mostly music recieved. -
My DD is in Literary Arts and we received a call on Thursday night informing us that she had been shortlisted for the scholarship.
-
Hi Catz2222, my DD is from the Music faculty. We were told about it in the same letter as the CO.

My DD, in VA, was asked to attend as well. All the best to those going for the interview! The school fees and supplementary add up.... so any subsidy helps.Notabene:

This should be the David Marshall Scholarship. Can't remember how many percent for each Year 1 cohort (15% maybe?). If things haven't changed, the interviews are conducted in small groups of shortlisted students together with the principal and the VP. Parents can sit in and listen in. They will ask questions and get the students to talk and at least in the session I attended a few years back with my child, the questions relate back to the values the school hope to inculcate http://www.sota.edu.sg/sota-education/sota-curriculum/affective-programmes/character-and-citizenship-education.
After the first year, scholars have to be both in the top 30% of their cohort in academics and in the top 30% in their art form for their scholarships to continue each year.

Still not sure if to take up SOTA’s CO, their single science at Year 5 & 6 is the main factor to consider, although someone mentioned that they would offer double science to those who are good at Science on case by case basis.
-
Hi, for those who really eyeing double sciences for Years 5 and 6, I don’t suggest SOTA. The Science foundation from Years 1-4 is different from ACSI IB Years 1-4. SOTA’s focus is on the Arts.
Go to ACSI IB for double sciences/IB
