Could be due to stress. Maybe arrange for him to see a counsellor as a first step? Or if you think there is a medical reason, take him to your GP.

I agree. It is not really about the hair plucking or the look, right? Just like some kids who cut themselves to self-multilate. Don’t just look at the skin and say scarring is bad so stop it.

There is a usually a deeper root cause. Stress or frustration with something that they cannot voice out maybe? If the child not willing to confide in a family member then please find a third party counsellor. For the child’s sake before anything more dangerous happens.

          It is due to stress!

You may go read up on Trichotillomania to see whether your child fits the pattern and treat from there accordingly.

wow. this is scary stuff. Hate to sound rude to TS, but it's like IMH stuff. Best to check with a GP doctor first to control this.

I know someone who can’t resist plucking her hair. She just can’t control her hand. She’s not stress or something. It’s just her mannerism. So whenever we caught her plucking her hair we would remind her not to do it and she would then realize she’s about to do. It became a habit so she can’t do anything about it.

Similar to nail biting… should not be anything too serious. maybe fixation on doing something with hands or stress or boredom even. can break the habit one hahaha
