Now i am really panicking....after reading all ur posts. I am also going try my luck for DLS for this year registration. My house is very near DLS (takes less than 5mins to reach). If less than 1km still got balloting is it and is it under phase 2c as well

Dont bother waste time to apply DLS.
Ask any high rank secondary schools at CCK, the teachers will tell you students standard from DLS hav drop a lot....
The fact that the DLS will move to Teck Wyne for 2 years will make the standard becomes even worse...
I am within the system, so I know....

I have a P1 son in DLS this year and we got in via balloting. What I can say is so far my son is coping well in DLS (although not the top performance) in term of academic, school life, attitude etc and importantly he enjoys his school life. The most fortunately is he has a very good MT teacher and he is doing quite well for MT which save me lots of time to teach him MT but can focus to other subjects which he is weak.

Dear doratheexplorer & Kiakiamom: If you really want to apply DLS, maybe you can try to do the community work and by the time when you got to register, you still can have choice to choose DLS, Unity Or Yew Tee and you may feel more secure in P2B and avoid the torturing balloting. From the 2009 balloting result, if you cannot secure any seat in DLS, Unity or YT, the only choice is Kranji PS or Bt Pjg PS. And so far, as a parent of DLS, i have a very good parent network either in or outside the KS parent web-site. Baby2momma is one of my battle friend and helpful parent here. If you want to check more details for Unity PS and Kranji PS, i think my other battle friend honeybeel is the good person who can help out, she got a girl in Unity now.

Can somebody explain why β€œThe fact that the DLS will move to Teck Wyne for 2 years will make the standard becomes even worse” ? if this is the case, I have to prepare myself.

                Hi Anna,

Don't worry about others putting down DLS.
And there is no reason why the standard of DLS
will drop if moved to other sites. The teachers
will still commit their best towards the students.
If others like to keep putting their own opinion
on DLS, let them be. Important is our kids
                shld enjoy their 6 years of primary school;
                not only academically. πŸ˜‰

And till now, I hv no regrets getting my child
                into tat school ! πŸ˜‰

                  hi doratheexplorer,
do take time to study the placement history of the schools in cck coz
most neighbourhood schools in CCK are very hot and you would
really need a strong back-up school that both you & your husband
should agree on in the event tat the school of your choice is full.

No SA1 for English and Maths, lucky me...
They only have topical test and task for Maths.
Chinese only oral and some hanyupinyin test.

You are busy with your DS's SA1 now?
