Hi, is your daughter still attending classes at the Le Grand Dance School, how does she find it? Considering sending my daughter there too. Around how much are the classes and did you have to buy the leotards and all by yourself?

I am very dismayed that The Ballet and Music Company does not have our children’s interests at heart.

Our daughters are due to perform on the 17th of Sept at Kallang Theatre; our daughters are told to arrive at 9am (or 1pm) depending on the session, and parents will be away from them for at least 4-hours.

The children were not asked to bring any food. Also, Sheila from the Ballet and Music Company called saying that Kallang Theatre does not allow food to be consumed on its premises.

Our daughters are spending 4 hours rehearsing and performing on empty tummies. Many parents have highlighted this to the school but they are not going to provide any food for our children. This is not the way and this is not a solution. I am extremely disappointed in the ballet school’s lack of welfare for the child. Have the Ballet and Music Company realized how much effort, time and enthusiasm our daughters have shown in wanting to perform, and in this case they are also representing the Ballet and Music Company? How different are the Ballet and Music Company compared with slave drivers?

Any parents who have sent their daughters for the Junior Prima Performance, we need to stand up and have our voices heard by their management.

Hi, my girl is currently doing both RAD and CSTD exams. Is that common in other ballet schools? She completed her pre-ballet exams for RAD in Apr. Thereafter, she has started coaching lessons for CSTD. Basically, she has coaching almost throughout the whole year. I thought the norm is to take either RAD or CSTD. Can someone enlighten me please?

                  Hi Mommies,

My DD will be turning 6 this year and has enrolled her to a dance school under CSTD system only this year Jan. Recently I have read up and seemed that RAD is more recognized in Singapore. Just wonder if any mommies here send your DD to learn both types?

                  Thanks.
my girl teacher teaches both. she learns at crestar now btw

hi. my daugher teacher teaches her both cstd and rad. yes most kid just do cstd or rad . at first i said no because i scared that my daughter gets confused and all. but teacher assured me that they are different and girl wont get confused. right now she has 3 slots. RAD required twice a week while CSTD require once a week training. i also think my girls ballet skills are much better. in class now she has more time to stretch.

my child is still dancing at age 12 (many of her peers have given up), so the question I would ask myself is - is this going to make her a professional performer, or is this going to benefit her in cultivating discipline that lasts till life. a good teacher, in my opinion, is someone who brings out the best in you. She has had merits so far in her many RAD exams from pre-pri to grade 5, perhaps 1 distinction, but it has never bothered us as the benefits of the passion and discipline instilled is much more beneficial than the awards. Don’t let the results bother you, that’s my advice. Dance those little toes away!
