What's a good prelim exam result? 3As? 2As, 2Bs?

To me, a good result is when the child has performed to his ability or slightly over in relation to his cohort. If the child is usually in the top 5%, and he is there again, that's good; if the child is usually at the 50th percentile, and he is there again or even a little higher, that's good. \"Good\" should be relative, not absolute. Of course, I know that info is not (yet?) available, but hopefully the child will have a sense of where he is.

To the student, it's very straight forward. A good result is getting the A grade. Most, if not all, are aiming for As in the A Level exam.
And for some, A is not enough. Especially if they made careless errors or didn't manage their time well and they know they could have done better.

How important is LEAPS record for university application? The record shows bonus points but it is not applicable since RI is IP so I am wondering whether it is useful for uni application.

              TIA

My impression is that it isn't important. University application is primarily by grades, and for some courses, also tests and interviews. I think the student has to submit his CCA record which should include all this LEAPS stuff, but it isn't really a criteria for admission. Of course, if it comes down to a neck-and-neck comparison between 2 candidates for the last place, then every little bit might help.

Thank you Slmkhoo. I guess it is the same for Raffles Diploma i.e. not important?

But of course, the things that will win points for RD are generally the same things that a student will put down to support an application, so it does double up. It just seems to have become an extra piece of paper (and they already have so many!) that indicates how a student has performed in different spheres, but the info is also reflected in the other school reports.

Yes, the RD isnโ€™t important. As slmkhoo mentioned, your achievements that contributed to your RD are mentioned in other documents as well. Some application forms have such limited space my daughter didnโ€™t bother mentioning her RDs.
