Yes, but so expensive! I really think they need to tone it down and make it more inclusive. My husband isn't very happy that RI (his old school) has become \"like that\"! My daughter and I agreed to go 50-50 for the cost. Many in her class aren't going because of the cost. She's very social and decided to go in the end for the sake of some of her friends, but was really debating whether to go at all.Prom Nite @ Shangri-La Hotel this year.
Slmkhoo.. is your gal going ? -
slmkhoo:
DH was from RI too. DS is going for Prom Nite, as most of his friends are going.

Does RGS have Prom Nite ? RI has Prom Nite for Y4 boys too. DS' batch (2015) had theirs at Serangoon Country Club. Cost was quite reasonable, I recall. -
DH was also from RI

Are your DH and DS from the same House ? -
iFirefly:
Yes, RGS has a prom nite. My dd's year it was held in Marriot iirc. And Shangri-la for RI.

I rem 'elitism' was a hot topic then. The school decided to hold the Y4 GradNite at Serangion Country Club and the dress code was 'anything you're comfy in'. DS says quite a number turned up in casual attire (t-shirts, jeans, bermudas) and a handful even went straight from school in their school uniform.

Heard students can put in a request to change House but both DH & DS didn't think it was necessary. Both are happy to be from different houses. LoL

PS : Where's the venue for Y4 GradNite this year ? -
iFirefly:
I didn't know can request to change House. I thought it will be nice if DS is in the same House as DH. However, just now I asked DS and he said House is not meaningful so no difference whether he is in the same House as his dad or not.

DS said the venue for GradNite not decided yet. They have conducted survey though. -
I heard Mr Chan Poh Meng is retiring and will be replaced by Mr Frederick Yeo, Principal of Crest Secondary School. Mr Yeo was previously RI Vice Principal about 10 years ago.
