Congratulations on your child in getting into Xin Min! I am not sure if the other gates are opened in the mornings. I doubt so but you can ring up the school to enquire. On rainy days, parents are allowed to drive into the school via the main gate.Hi,
Can anybody advise if the side/back gates are opened in the morning for students taking SBS bus 88 and alighting near the Police Centre nearby? Thanks. -
Hi,
I am considering this school for my gal who is taking psle this year.
Existing students/ mummies with children in Xinmin Sec, can I ask for yr opinion of the sch- Teachers/ environment / discipline/ academic?
Thanks very much! -

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I am currently a Sec 4 student in Xinmin Secondary School so I think I can answer some of your questions. So far the teachers have been great throughout the four years I have been in Xinmin and they do not shy away from giving extra one-on-one sessions known as consultations for students who are lagging behind in their subjects. The teachers tend to usually be quite competent in the subject they are teaching, although there are some exceptions (even so they are still competent to a certain extent).Hi,

Xinmin's environment is actually rather tame compared to other schools. You'll definitely see fewer bullies here although that may vary from batch to batch. There are also some readily available places for your child to study, including the air-conditioned school library. The school also offers various opportunities for academic development and I think if your child excels in certain subjects he or she can easily get into an olympiad of his or her choice.
The school, I feel, actually does well in disciplining its students. Our DM, Mr Singh, is reasonable but definitely not lenient. You won't find horror stories of schools being too overzealous in their enforcing of punishments and neither will you have to worry about your child not being punished and disciplined if they have done wrong. The school's policy on latecoming is a little strict but I suppose that is for the better.
There are also a lot of enrichment activities and an annual Leadership Adventure Camp meant to develop leaders to their fullest potential before they take on CCA roles. Personally these activities are not really my cup of tea and I usually find them a waste of time although this is definitely an opinion.
Of course while I have had my fair share of disagreements with the school, I honestly think the school is actually somewhat decent. If you want to find out more information, you should come for the school's open house on 4th November 2017. Further details can be found on the school website. -

How’s xinmin’s badminton? Looks like they were once very good in the late 1990s and early 2000s?
