This thread is so helpful, really appreciate all parents replying every single plea of help here with patience.
LO is gonna be P1 in 2022, and my cheque was cleared by SHHK! Yay!
From what I read there's only 2 board meetings a year, when will be the next one be held to accept members officially? Am I still safe? Haha!
To be honest, I'm quite excited to start because the volunteering activities sounds fun.

No one really knows whether you are safe or not. Distance priority will come into play and popularity of the school will also determine whether you get the recommendation or not. If you are aiming for ATS, TNS or NCPS, it is best to plan for back up.

Yup! Backups is important. All factors are into consideration, but I guess being a clan member first to kickstart. Is there enough time for me?

I just got the official receipt indicating that I've paid for Entrance and Subscription fee for period Oct 2017 to Oct 2022. Does that mean my membership starts from this month? -
Anyone knows if ACS still taking in under phase 2b under church affiliation ?

Definitely. There may be balloting though, depending on your distance. -

It's not enforced in Methodist churches. Envelopes are given only for special giving programs, but nobody is tracking our tithing.[/quote]
It is somehow being \"enforced\" in the church that my colleague is attending as it's stated in the membership form and names will be written on envelops to \"track\" the regularity of tithes with strong emphasis of one-tenth of what he earns, not sure about those who didn't follow the tithing requirements will be recognized as an official member or not?lil_han_mummy:

Giving/tithing is part of church teachings, at least it is not enforced in my church but we give/tithe out of conviction. But I know the pastor assessment form for P2B does have a section on \"giving\".
Probably different denominations interpret this different? Think it shouldn't be implemented as an open written clause but should be based on conviction and giving offerings based on own will.
Church hv done away with serial number tracking of tithing envelopes.
In any case, using church affiliation for 2b admission is via membership. Don't mix it up with service & tithing. These are your personal commitments and accountability to God. Some Methodist church still do full membership classes. Some do 1-day Programme to prepare for baptism for special seasons. Do check out before u take this route - it takes commitment & time.
Recently, I met a PRC lady, recently taken citizenship, who was asking about serving with a Community Centre and hoping to use that as grassroot service for 2a. She wanted her 3-year-old to enter ACSP/ACSJ having bought a condo unit at Orchard Scotts. She was disappointed that most citizens enter via church affiliation. She said she didn't want to change her religion just so her kids can join Methodist schools. So she wants to volunteer as grassroot service. She then realize the timeframe restrictions.
Do plan ahead. Tho it sounds very kiasu! -
Hi, can i check…
If my husband and son is baptized as Catholic, but we stay more than 2km from Catholic High. Does my son qualify for 2B phase?
Thanks in advanced! -

my son is born 2014, so P1 will be in 2021...
1) my husband and son is baptized as Catholic, but we stay more than 2km from Catholic High.
2) within 2km from Nan Chiau, but will do PV all the way.
If i'm not wrong, both will be in Phase 2B?
For #1 above, is there a way to do PV in order to increase the chance?
Please enlighten me... Thanks!
