      pinky:
Son is leaving for overseas studies in a few days time. We will be accompanying him there.

Very sad to see him leave but seeing him looking forward to a new chapter in his life, perhaps I should too. It is challenging but I hope with the help of counsellor I will be able to overcome my depression.
Which country he flying to ?
      England ? US ? Canada ? Australia ?

If Australia, is nearby. By flight, a few hours, can visit him during term break

Most of the kids I know usually don't take term breaks during those study years as they will seek for internships (usually in the country of study or other countries else intern back in Spore) and will only return if there's a pocket of time. These internships, whether paid or unpaid, are important for their subsequent job applications. If child is in one of the better unis in UK, companies will come headhunt for interns before term breaks.

After these 'honey' study years overseas, most will have to guai guai return back to Spore to bite tongue and start their mostly boring work (perhaps 2 out of 10 really enjoy their work in my known statistics. Most will lament about missing the 'glorious' days during their overseas study but majority cannot turn back the clock anymore if they had missed doing something.).

So whenever possible should make good use of term breaks in order to maximise the 'quality' of those 3-4 years.

Hope you have enjoyed your trip!

UK unis (esp Music Schools) have so many short breaks that my kids actually said they 'cheat' money (basically not many contact hours and most of the time is 'self study'). Number of modules per semester is also not that many and so most students actually can have quite a lot of free time after finishing their allocated work (the top UCL Sporean girl travelled whenever there was a break of more than 3 days and so can infer to be able to juggle studies and leisure at same time). So hope your boy can have some fun there while studying. Coming long break is the xmas 2 weeks break (maybe can meet your son in Europe for tour if want if by then he still yet to form a group of kakis for such sightseeing purposes. Cheap and good to travel Europe for UK students.).

Did you notice how hard the tap water is in London? The sediment clouding the water. Filtered drinking water maybe a must there to avoid kidney stones over the long run.

When I was studying in the UK, I never drank tap water straight from the tap. All of us bought water filters (from Argos or any supermarket). And to prevent limescale build up in the kettle, many people would filter the water before boiling.

I highly recommend this (two-in-one filtered electric kettle to save space and time):

I even got my kid to bring back for my own use (I tried finding this in Spore but don't seem to be able to find).
