Wow! Your gal must be good in her writing. Get lots of ideas & English will be good fr so much reading.
NLB loans up to 16 books max each borrowing. Enough for your gal's appetite? Save the earth better than buying books & nowhere to chuck. Mine read non-stop & hard to push them to their usual sports. Will sign them up for ice-skating or rock-climbing. -

How I wish dd's language is good, Esteema. Her Eng is still near bottom at her level  the comics are in chi and her chi in school also average only. I m still thinking dunno how to help her in her Eng. That's why I told her go read the books at home when she asked to go library this morning. Go library very difficult to get her borrow proper Eng or even Chi books. We went to another nlb the last visit. dd was so happy to see different types of comics. we used 3 cards, 2 adults and one kid. 10 each quota for adults. dd1 borrowed 19books, dd2 has few YS magazine and I have 3/4 mag。total 28.MrsKiasu:

It's good that she starts liking books. You can steer her towards more \"solid food\" as she develops. Anyway, kids do get motivated by other kids as their develop & progress in their childhood.
Are u staying anywhere near Bishan? You can try Academia (Mr Sherman Tseng altho ano KSP mum shared with me Mr Johann Loh also good). They're really good in coaching kids & you'll see marked improvement. For compo, I know Ms Agnes from Writers@Work can teach kids to write very well for compo. Again, I heard her class full (no more vacancy coz one mum lucky enuf to catch last place last month). I don't know abt other teachers in same centre tho).
Let your gals enjoy their holidays. Good that mummy MrsKiasu brings them to library to nurture reading habits. -

I do agree to some extent value of comics diminish as a child moves upper Pri. Still, comics perform its function of spurring our young kids towards love of books & develop reading habits. It's not easy for our young ones to bridge to serious reading on their own. I rmbr when trying to move my kids fr comics, I tried buying comics Science series sold at Popular. I'm glad I did coz they all enjoy serious Science reading even now. They build on their prior learning, albeit fr comics. We've to look thro the child's lenses, coz oftentimes, our adult perception of learning can be passé for the new generation. -

Kids & cousins used to visit the JCube. These days they prefer the Kallang rinks. Pls avoid the Marina Bay one bcoz the surface often not resurfaced properly (turnaround time too short due to bz decision to meet high demands?) & kids then to slip & fall.
Rock-climbing go for Kallang Wave or sign them up for Outward Bound.
