DD told me average gpa for year 1 is 3.54. Not sure accurate or not.

Considering that she only has Maths tuition, I am happy with her results.

The EOY report is available from inet, 1 day ahead of schedule.

Seems like the median for the cohort is not that high for all subjects.

The GPA is base on the average of 7 subjects. Some subjects are compulsory: EL, HCL, 1 Math, 1 science, and 1 humanities I think. Her GPA is pulled down by the languages.

My DD GPA is also 3.66. Pulled down by her Chinese which is the only B. May I know if the GPA is likely to be lower in upper Sec because the subjects are more difficult?

Not necessarily. Because they get to select subjects for Y3-4, they may actually do better overall if they have been able to drop their weakest subject(s). That may not apply if the weak subject(s) are compulsory (eg. English, Maths etc). The subjects will be more difficult, but they are also supposed to be better able to cope with the more advanced work.

Got it. Thank you for your explanation!

                        ACTC:
When my DD was in Y1, she got 3.77 at the end of the year and received the Edusave merit certificate for the top 25%. At Y2, she got 3.89 and again is ranked between top 10% to top 25%. Do note that the GPA step is 0.057 apart, so best possible GPA is 4.00, followed by 3.94, 3.89 and 3.83 and so on.

Hi, ACTC, thanks for your sharing. May I know why GPA step is 0.057? if the students gets 3.6 for all her 7 subjects, why can't her AVE GPA be 3.6? Thanks.
