Think last year's p4 streaming was done differently. There are 2 top p5 classes (hope and grace). The top 80 girls are co-mingled in these 2 classes. The 3rd class is purity. The rest of the 3 classes are mixed ability. This is what many of the parents thought after tracing where the top p4 girls are distributed, no longer first 40 first class, second 40 into second class etc...
Oic.....During my dd's P4 streaming (2015) already heard abt this arrangement to mix the Top 80 girls into this Top 2 classes only. So my dd's batch was the last batch to be in the \"old system\". Thank you for updating the latest class streaming. -

From what sone of us observed, there is no 3rd class. The other 4 are all mixed. Grace and Hope are correct. -
Many of the girls that got kicked out of the top 80 in p4 went into p5 purity. Which is why I think purity is the third class

What? Still got kicked out cases? If the Top 80 girls have been formed into Top 2 classes in the 1st place, how is it these girls got kicked out from this Top 2 classes to form another class? Correct me if I have misinterpreted your sentence.
From my previous understanding & MerlionGermany said - if the school mix the Top 80 girls to the Top 2 classes only, all other classes will be mixed-ability classes; no 3rd class liao. -
The top 80 girls in p4 are p4 justice and p4 hope. Some of these girls didn’t get into p5 grace and p5 hope but instead went into p5 purity. That’s what I meant haha

But, those girls who end up in 2017 P5 Purity : perhaps 5 Purity is just another MA class, not necessarily the 3rd class.
Perhaps, school had scraped 3rd class, under the new arrangement ?
End up with
Top two 2017 P5 classes (randomly mixed by the Top 80 girls to fill up 5 Hope and 5 Grace, at end of 2016 P4 streaming)
Plus
Four MA (Mixed Ability) classes
Total : six P5 classes -
That’s possible too. Just my speculation cos it’s all these displaced girls are all in purity and not distributed out to the other 3 classes.
I have noticed that the girls’ performance are fairly consistent throughout the years. The reason they are displaced are the inclusion of many of the transfer girls that were in mixed ability classes in p4. These girls got in with good results and many of them were able to get into the top 2 classes. But really, it’s just my own speculation at the end of the day, no validation fr the school. -
goosiegoose:
I THINK not all the displaced p4 Justice in p5 Purity. Afterall, streaming at P2 is hardly a good gauge of academic ability. The mixed classes are probably put together based on pull-out timetable/logistics. As one may have noticed, the 4 classes are subject-banded. Grace and Hope don't move around. But anyway, it doesn't matter to me if there are 3 mixed or 4 mixed classes. :hi5:That's possible too. Anyone has a feel of the average score of the respective P4 classes?
-
Did u see that slip ( cohort Progress Report ) containing the average mean score per subject, for 2017 P4 SA2 cohort, printed out ? Form Teacher instructed us to insert this slip back, into our Report card.
In fact, this P4 level cohort Progress Report tells a story.
Did u notice that the mean (average) for Each subject, was very high ?
Did you compare and contrast in detail, our P4 \"SA2\" against P4 \"SA1\" level cohort mean, per subject, & noticed that SA2 every single subject's Mean was so much higher, than that of previous SA1 ?
This means that across each of our six P4 classes : in general, a lot of our girls did very well, overall.
To double confirm, since this Friday is Parents-Meet-Tr (PMT) session, u may ask each of your P4 subject Tr :
how many girls get Band 1, in your own class ?
(from there, can more or less gauge)
Anyway, on 1 Dec 2017 -
once 2018 P5 class allocation is out (via online login to school website), just trace Which class (that girl from 2017 P4 Charity Top class who received the \"All-Rounder\" award, plus where those Top 3 girls in your own class) get allocated to, very fast will know which are the Top two classes for P5, randomly mixed by those Top 80 girls, amongst entire P4 cohort.
Why very fast ?
Because you will see many parents excitedly, forming the new 2018 P5 class whatsapp chat group, swiftly.
The rest : will be MA (mixed ability) classes.
As long as they are banded by certain subject (s), that class is considered an MA class.
Since so many girls did well across P4 cohort, the Cut-off, to enter the first 2 classes : expected to be very high.
But, if during PMT, u ask your class Form Tr what's the Cut-off, they won't disclose (like asking them Top-secret, that type)
This year (2017, born 2006 batch) :
P5 (Hope & Grace) are Top two classes.
Next year (2018, born 2007 batch) :
The first two classes may not necessarily be the same, as above names. School sometimes rotates names around, differently.
(don't waste time, on un-official info)
