Serendipity:
Anyone heard news of school bus arrangements for next year to the holding site?

Just called up the bus operator. From Bukit Batok area: $155 for 2-way. $141 for 1-way.

I hope they can provide bus services from sch to Clementi mrt as the bus stops seem quite a far walk from sch and students have to cross roads.

        sky minecrafter:
Listing out CCAs which are also offered to P1 students. Do wait for the following year's notification if you require further information (with PERI, options could differ).

According to the latest sch circular, \"CCA will not be offered to all P1 and P2 students in view of their welfare and the difficulty of logistical arrangement...\" \"the school will develop their core competencies and skills of CCAs through experiential learning weaved into the other school program...\"

With CCA, it is quite common for P5 to spend 4 to 5 afternoons in school. But some suppl classes will end around 2.45pm. So not so bad. Most of them has no problem coping.
...after-school activities for P5 kids in NH? Do they stay back often for extra lessons etc?

Hi, yup, not worth it taking the school bus both ways. Supplementary lessons (mandatory unless you ask to be excused?) for all P5 all 4 subjects usually spread over 3 afternoons (depends on individual teacher's arrangement) both semesters, Maths Olympiad, CCA...

Hi sky minecrafter, thanks for the response! 3 afternoons already taken up for supplementary classes?! :faint: Then plus CCA and enrichment, isn't that Mon to Fri? :scared:
Hi any parents with kids in TAG1? Can you please PM me with your thoughts about the program? Would like to understand the pros and cons. Thank you!

My PM is not working so i'll just share my views here.

My child is in TAG1. PSLE next. When my kid was selected for TAG1, we were not sure if we should accept it. But we have no regrets. The level of knowledge and confidence built up over the years are more than worth it. Having said that, some will do well and some won't in TAG1. You can't have all winners right? The key is to help them to be focused especially in P5 when the subjects are harder.

As for stress level, P4 is still manageable. P5 has more alot more homework but that's the same for all other non-TAG classes given that P5 is the preparation year for PSLE. Majority of the TAG students are able to handle the stress (i feel it is a good training for them). Some may struggle with languages especially Higher Chinese. But they have an option in P6 to drop HCL if their grades in P5 cannot meet the minimum requirement.

Hi ski, did your kid have supplementary lessons for all 4 subjects in P5? Or was it just EL, Math and Science?

The HCL like you said is really quite tough... What resources does your kid use to help with the subject?

                  :thankyou:

For P5 TAG class, supplementary classes for Science and Math are compulsory regardless of results. English and HCL suppl classes are for the weaker students.

For HCL, we didnt provide much additional resources. But expose kiddo to Chinese radio programmes (FM100.3 during morning journey to school) and Chinese Children TV shows on Sunday morning just to make sure the appreciation and love for Chinese language builds up gradually. But teachers play a very important role too in helping some of the students. So credit goes to them.

I see. Wonder what the reason is for making Math and Science compulsory while the languages are only for weaker students...
