My kids each owns a laptop as they need to do project, use asknlearn for e-learning and at times use it for research. Anyway, it can be used for a long ttime till tertiary so we decided to get for them instead of using ours.

My girl is from this school so I am aware that their Econs is not FCE :).

Food and Nutrition and DnT will offer to them in lower Sec. Some schools do offer these two in Upper Sec though.

Taking \"O\" level Econs exam subject code 2286 is very good, because it prepares the O level students well, by giving them a strong, solid foundation in Econs, before they move up onto A level next time in a Junior College, & continue with H2 Econs subject.

If students have taken O level Econs, the chance of them scoring / performing very well at A level H2 Econs : is very high, since their solid foundation at the O level, had already been well built !

TKGS is one of the very few, rare privileged Secondary schools in Singapore, whereby students are privileged to be given the great rare opportunity, to study Econs (2286).


However, the setback is :-
If students were to take this Econs (2286) subject (offered only from Sec 3) , then Upper Secondary (3 and 4) students cannot concurrently take on Triple Sciences O level subject combination at the same time anymore, because TKGS Secondary school doesn't permit this Upper Sec (3 and 4 Triple Sciences + together with Econs 2286) subject combination is NOT allowed.

School said this subject combination is far too heavy, and timetable wise : the timing clash, so cannot allow such a subject combination, to co-exist. Such a pity ! Otherwise, (Triple Sciences + Econs 2286) is an Excellent subject combination, at Upper Sec (3 and 4)

I went for TKGS Open House last Sat. The principal confirmed they are one of only 5 schools in Sg that offers Econs at secondary level. She confirms the subject is business Economics, not home Economics.

My other daughter in Cedar Secondary needed one - its compulsory. She has many projects. I didn't get the impression TKGS need their pupils to get a notebook. AsknLearn, e-learning and research can be done on the desktops at home. I can then supervise. I don't like them secretly watching k drama on their notebooks. Bad for eyes. Anyway, I got her a notebook and eventually confiscated it. I feel kinda dumb now..... :stupid:

Besides TKGS, do u know which are the other four Secondary schools throughout entire Singapore, that offered GCE \"O\" level Business Econs (2286) ?
(since u mentioned 5 schools, above)

As many Upper Secondary (3 & 4) students would have realized, the subject combination chosen / selected, at Upper Sec : is crucial, very important, as this determine what kind of subject combination subsequently an A-level student in a Junior College, can possibly continue with.

In the Junior Colleges, for Science students :
since A-level subject combination like BCME H2 (Bio, Chem, Maths, Econs) or PCME H2 (Physics, Chem, Maths, Econs) are highly popular (favored upon), it will be great, if more \"O\" level students are given the privileged opportunity & a good fundamental exposure, to start learning Financial Economics (2286) earlier during Upper Secondary school days, before they embark forward, into their Junior College journey.


I only come across three Sec schools, so far -

(1) Tanjong Katong Girls' Secondary,


(2) Westwood Secondary,

At end of Sec 2 (Express), below article mentioned that to qualify to study Business Econs : Sec 2 students from Westwood Secondary, must score at least 65 percent for English, and a pass in Geography.

Hi,

Will someone be able to feedback what subjects is TKGS strong in ? More Science or Humanities subjects ? My gal is more keen in Science. Does anybody live in Sengkang region and how do you get to TKGS in the Bedok holding area now and how long does it take ? What time does school starts ?

Is it possible to also feedback if teachers are supportive esp. for higher sec, and students do they feel motivated ? What is percentage of those that get into JC ?

I think more because of the holding site location that the cop dropped. And you can take bus 87 from sengkang to Bedok, roughly an hour journey.

Thanks. We missed the open house for TKGS. Is it possible to feedback/PM me generally the teaching environments, teachers, support, academic for TKGS, discipline ? My girl is hesitant about joining all girls school hence, want get a feel of all girls environment, are they generally happy there etc ?

Am also keen to find out about the teaching environment, teachers and support, school hours. So far I have received feedback from ex-alumni that TKGS is a good school with good reputation. All girls school is actually a plus point for me as dd is in one and I was from an all girls school for 10 yrs. I find that the strongest friendships were made in all girls schools. Only concern for me is that no affiliation to any JC and looking at the scary JC cut off pts now, I am unsure of where to put TKGS in my ranking.
