Thanks Happy70, the 38% is better than result of 2016? what is % of 2016?

          My son PSLE result: English-B, Chinese-B, Math-A*, Science-A*, Aggregate Score-228.

His teacher said A* is 91-100, B is 65-75, like this the minimum score should be 234, however his teacher said this is T-score.
Why T-score is so amazing? anybody can advise me? thanks

My DD Tscore is 266, she is now considering RGS, anyone here has DC with RGS? Can share the school culture and learning environment? Do the teachers really teach and girls are helping each other?

hello! i am currently an upper sec rgs student so i can definitely help you with this (personally though, not DC :rotflmao: :rotflmao: )

the transition from primary school to secondary school is tough, but the school has a whole orientation programme for all y1 students (my year had an overnight camp), where everyone could learn more about the school, get drowned in the thunderous school cheers, gets introduced to our enthusiastic house system, and get comfortable with their classmates. i could say this eased the transition by A LOT, together with the support of the teachers and seniors.

when it comes to academic help, it is very important for students to approach their teacher at once whenever she is unsure of what's going on in class, and not only when exams are approaching as teachers might be 'fully booked for consultation'. if you ask for the help, you will definitely get it. based on personal experience, teachers here could range a lot, from the not-so-good, to those who could engage the whole class actively in every lesson! (most of them are the second one 😂 😂 ) since we have the macbook system, both teachers and students make use of technology a lot, aka at least half of our lesson notes are on google drive, easily accessible at least 🙂

do we help each other? of course we do! we aren't exactly THAT competitive when it comes to academics, just make some good friends and whenever someone is struggling in school, they would be glad to help that person. just before end of year exams, seniors from one year above would also compile all their notes from their previous year to 'donate' to the year below. you could say our sisterhood here is quite strong!

overall, i would say my rgs experience so far has been really tough but enriching at the same time. stress and lack of sleep could hit students during the exam periods, but thats what makes us stronger and the 'shared pains of struggling' just makes us bond more and more with our peers. typed this in a rush so this reply could be a little slipshod, but if you have any more questions you can approach me 😛

Hi did anyone notice that in the colourful MOE brochure named 'What's Next' inside the result pack, it states that CHIJ St Nicholas has both IP and IB programme? Since when did this school have an IB offer? How can MOE make such a major blunder or am I the one who is uninformed?

Must we fill up all 6 choices in the option form? And can the choices repeat?

I’d also like to ask experienced parents, is the allocation process controlled by MOE or the respective secondary schools? I heard the school principal say that if you’re coming from an affiliated primary school but do not place the affiliated secondary school as FIRST CHOICE, you will definitely not get a place in that school regardless how high your score is. Meaning to say for example if aggregate score was 260 and I choose another school as first choice, and place my affiliated secondary school which has a cut-off point of only 240 as second choice, if I don’t make it to my first choice school, I will also lose out to another candidate with lower score than me just because the other candidate put the affiliated school as first choice and I didn’t - is this true or is the school principal just trying to scare us into putting the school as first choice to boost the take-up rate? Is the allocation totally by merit or by order of preference of choice position? If my score is 260, will even my 6th choice take priority over another person’s first choice who has a score of a lower 250? Really appreciate any guidance!
