Checking in here! #2 gonna reg in 2019 but my #1 has to register in 2018.

We stay in punggol and there is a new school right beside us but im thinking of leaving that as my last choice in 2c phrase.

I can join other schools in this grc under 2b

But both hubby and my schools are considered not bad.
      Hub: Anderson Primary School
      Me: Kheng Cheng School

The distance frm punggol to kheng cheng tbh is very far. But it is a rising school. Im not too sure abt anderson though. Hub's been telling me to just take the school right beside us. Cus distance is a concern to him. But i have 2a2 and 2b! Why do i wanna waste it right?

Any advice? Do i really try 2a2, 2b then 2c?

      :thankyou:

Hi all, checking in. My DD born in 2013, we are staying in sengkang east, within 1km from mee toh, rivervale and compassvale. May i know what are the chances to get PV from these schools? Do these schools ballot for PV or via interview? My first choice would be meet toh, followed by rivervale and Compassvale.

        :thankyou:

The PV application in Mee Toh has already been closed.
For Rivervale, I think it's first come first serve, so you should closely monitor their website and register once it's open.
I'm not sure about Compassvale, but I got a friend who didn't get the PV from the other two schools and managed to get it from Compassvale.

Thanks rachel_liu8, duly noted as i have received the declined letter from mee toh. Checked wih mee toh that they selected the PV via ballot. Too bad, i do not have the luck.
Will try Rivervale then since it's first come first serve, stress though. :nailbite: :nailbite:

          Hi all, checking in here.

Son going also born in 2013. got a dilemma, require some input.

we fall under category PHASE 2A(1) for Mee Toh Primary School.
seen mixed review for them now. I still do believe it’s a good school thou. They offer Higher chinese thou not a SAP sch.

Nonetheless, my address is right next to Nan Chiau.

Hence, don’t know whether to try for NC and continue to stay with my odds at MT.

          any advise?

MT is no odds, since it’s nearly guaranteed at Phase 2A1.
NC is very low odds at probably less than 33% for SC < 1km in Phase 2C. Unfortunately, if you skip Phase 2A1/2, MT will be close door since only SC < 1km will stand a chance in Phase 2C.

            I don’t see a dilemma here:
Got free liu lian bao jiak you don’t want, rather go for a basket of liu lian that you only stand a 1/3 chance of selecting a good one? 🤷

Yup. I do agree to your view.

The only contemplation is about the mixed reviews on MT. One of the reason MT became popular is because of its geographical location. Haven seen much recent review on other factors.

TBH I doubt geographical location plays a big part. It’s in Punggol, how popular can that be? It’s not like Bukit Timah you know.

It’s popularity is likely to the fact that it’s the most established school in Punggol - the other primary schools in Punggol are infants compared to MT. The same can also be said of NC in SK.

MT has the advantage of being affiliated to a sec school, which is always useful for some students. NC, despite the namesake, has no ties or affiliation to NCHS.

I have heard some reviews about MTS as well. My friend’s first born at MTS but second child at Horizon. Her feedback is that Horizon is better. Teachers are dedicated and always in touch with parents.

Both schools are fine, I think. And I agree that Kheng Cheng is rising in popularity. If commuting from Punggol to Toa Payoh is not an issue, then you should go ahead and register there. But if you have difficulties with the transportation, you should opt for the nearest school.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and just starting to read up for my son P1 in 2020. Can I find out if I wish to do PV to qualify for 2B. Does the school take into consideration distance to school for PV? Does one who stays within 1km of the school have a better chance to be selected for PV than one who stays >2km? Thanks in advance!

Depends. There isn’t a standardized policy. Varies from school to school. Some schools need you to be < 1km, others aren’t bothered.

Thanks floppy! Grateful if anyone knows if there's such policy for Roysth or St Andrews Junior?
