      HI all

my son's score is 253 and we are likely to put CHS IP as the second choice after VS IP. however, i have a concern with regards to Eunoia JC. No offence to the parents of kids in the JC or to the kids currently in that JC but being such a new JC, i am not sure how it would perform in terms of A level results in the years to come and how well the school will prepare the students for the impt exam. so, is it better off to go for CHS O level track so that my son has a chance to take the O levels and hopefully, get into one of the top JCs if his results are good enough? also, is it possible to still join the IP progamme for 4 years, then at year 5, switch to other JCs? i know the government will try to make the new JC a success but i just can't seem to find information on how MOE intends to achieve that....
I think once you are in the CHS IP you will have to continue to EJC, unlikely to be able to switch to other JCs

maybe case by case? should be the exception rather than the norm, the other JC would also want to take you in ...

agree that it is not easy since there are no O level results to gauge…

what about your views on Eunoia JC? any thoughts on its "future"? thanks

First batch would be taking A Levels next year, given its intake of students, should be able to produce relatively good results around NYJC/ACJC/TJC/Anderson standard?

VS IP leads up to VJC which holds a much better ranking than EJC (from CHS IP)
If CHS is still your primary choice, the O Level Track may be well suited as your DS will be able to ascend to better JCs after 4 years, and if EJC makes it to the higher ranks, your DS's still able to choose EJC

yes, VS IP is definitely better which is why we will be putting it as a first choice. however, i am worried if he can't get in, the second choice would be critical. btw, anyone has any sense of how the cop for these IP schools will be like this year? some say it may go up,..which is why i worry...last year VS IP COP is 252, the year bf is 254..if it goes up to 254, my son won't be able to get in...

also, my son would like to get into a IP school. which is why i am also not dropping CHS IP. furthermore, CHS is very near to my place. as for taking the O level route, my concern is , don't know what is going to happen by then... having a good T score now doesn't mean the child will continue to perform well academically after going to sec school. after seeing how my no. 2 got to study for his O levels this year, i really wish my youngest won't have to go thru that... btw, the O lvls took like 3 to almost 4 weeks from start to end and towards the end, my son actually had sore throat and a bit of flu...was so worried that he would fall sick...

just to find out one more thing, is Eunoia jc's standard similar to River Valley High school ? my eldest has just completed his A levels in RVHS and he did pretty well to get a place in a good course in local university. Most of his friends also did pretty ok..of course, can't compare to RJC and HCI but i am very satisfied already... which is why, RVHS will be the 3rd choice. so , if Eunoia JC's std is on par with RVHS, i think i will be more assured...as to why i don't just put RVHS as second choice, it is really because of the distance...

sigh..i was hoping i don't have to go thru the same stress when i was choosing sec school for no 1 and 2 but it seems that i have to...

thanks all for the kind sharing of views and thoughts...

The top 10% mark (for 3rd Lang) seems to be the same at 252 and the 2018 sec 1 express cohort size is also slightly smaller.
