nadine posted a very good revision schedule for science…not a single topic is left out.

revise first and then attempt the questions. just reading alone won’t help. when kids took psle, i bought ‘challenging science’ by janet sim. it is thematic and a combination of topics…i bought both lower and upper block. the other useful titles are Top Math and Top Science published by EPH.

psle is 10 months away. pace the revision and don’t get burnt out. this holiday, remember to have fun.

        Hi lee,

Can advise for p5 Science topics, which are the important ones, to revise first ?

If I remember correctly, last year Nov/Dec I covered all the P6 stuff instead of doing PSLE revision. Only in June this year did we start revising for Sc. It took me exactly 3 weeks to cover everything from P3 to P6 syllabus for Sc.

I think much depends on the individual, your child can let you know which topic she is not too confident in. Both my girls dislike reproduction in plants. As my DD1 found the topics for P6 more abstract (as compared to P5 work) we spent more time on these areas

        Hey lee_yi

Your timetable sounds very similar to ours.

We started revising P4/P5 topics in Oct the moment SA2 was over. No actually DS did all by doing notes/cards of all topics for English & Science & he love to add his artistic & colorful illustrations to his cards. I got him 4 different colored cards.

As usual, we then went for our holidays one after ano & brought along our P5 手册. Once new term started till CCA & soup classes start, we still hv time to practice worksheets & new P6 topics revision before CA1 hits.

Then everything went fast, no time till June sch holidays where we spent 3 solid weeks on P5 & P6 Sc & Chinese Oral & 作文 revision using 汪老师 rich materials. It was really a satisfying June. We run for Math Olympaid classes too!

May I know one day 1 topic is to cover how much? read from 1 revision book only or include past year papers?

          MKS,

Do topical revision during this Nov/Dec first. Don't scare yr gal with exam papers except if u buy the 2017 P5 Chinese exam papers for more 理解问答 & 便条 practices. If u start P6 exam practice before term starts, it might create a feeling of despair & cause a feeling that PSLE will be very tough for them.

Do it incrementally & issue CA1 exam papers only 1/2 weeks before & quickly close gaps for exams. Watch out how much yr child can handle & just add a notch more not too much. Keep the balance just taut & don't burn out yr dear child. But a little harder is OK as it's like exercising our muscles - no weight no gain in brain muscle. (Hee, hee... rhymes?)

Do major focus work during June so hv continuous focus. Build momentum fr there all the way till Prelims. After you're done with the stack of SA2 papers for Prelim, you can order the P6 Prelim exam papers (2017 not the 2016) to align yr child's std to other schools. That shld be available fr jeremyexampapers by early Sept.

Phew! I'm like reliving PSLE all over again! :scared:

Checking in. I am a first time PSLE mum. DD taking PSLE next year. Hope to learn from everyone here.

BTW, I am working full time. Many of my colleagues took no pay or half pay during their children PSLE year. Is this necessary? Any full time working mother here who survived PSLE year without making significant changes to work arrangement?

@melodytweety, et al. like our ksps have shared... If you were to revise SC, you may wanna make mind map-ish summary notes for quick revision later when you need to? Say Water - characteristics of the 3 states, main processes like Boiling vs Evaporation, Condensation. 😄

Thank you MKS. We’re just grateful & thankful. Now waiting excitedly for next phase for sec sch life. As usual, DS kept busy with Coding, outdoor activities and started browsing thro sec 1 books.

Must keep mind working at minimal level & thankful Coding is a constructive way to keep going. O’wise play since Oct completion of PSLE will be hard 3 months later to jack up engine when sec 1 starts.
