There are people living Woodlands, Telok Blangah, Jurong, Boon Lay going to VS and VJC. Their A lvl results are really good too. One of them is a student leader : )BinaSg:
Hi, newbie mama here. Seriously contemplating CGSS for DD. The only problem is the daily commuting for her to take. We staying at CCK, about 10 mins bus ride to the nearest MRT. We calculated her daily traveling will be minimum of 1.5hr. She needs to catch the 1st bus in the morning. This will be her life for the next 4-6 years. As for past 6 years, she only need to walk 5 mins to school. I’m afraid the daily traveling is too taxing on her.
1.5 hrs minimum travelling time?! My goodness! You can't be serious about sending her to Cedar. I mean, is there free gold there?
Anyway, just as a fyi, I live near Cedar. There is a new MRT station that opened in Mattar Road. This is probably the nearest MRT station to Cedar that I can think of. Dunno if you factored it in.
If your child is applying to the IP course, she spends only 4 years in Cedar. The other 2 years is in VJC campus. So this will not be her life for \"4-6 years\". I dunno how far VJC is from CCK. -
May i check anyone able to share the subject combination for sec 3 in cedar O level?

TJC IP across the house, or Cedar girls 50 minutes away?
TJC was 250
Cedar was 254
Dd 264
Is it worth it to take cedar?
Pls advise. Urgent. Thanks -

You are in a Cedar thread asking for recommendation between Cedar and TJC. Let me guess, 99.9% will suggest CedarTJC IP across the house, or Cedar girls 50 minutes away?

So seriously...
I would suggest Cedar.
4 years in an outstanding girl’s school, 2 years in an outstanding JC - very much a no brainer.
As an added bonus, Cedar / VJC uniform vs TJC uniform? No horse run in this contest. -

Agree. Your dd seems capable. Come swim with the big fishes. She secures a place direct to VJC, whose L1R5 is 7 points - 3rd hardest JC to enter besides the Raffles and HC family. An all girls environment is a plus. The competition with like-minded peers may stimulate her. However 50 min travel is a real drawback.

+1 for cedar. My friend went to TJC open house this year. She said the TJC PSG told her that Cedar is more academic and stressful than TJC, so they choose TJC for their dd as they want to avoid stress. -

To have balanced feedback, I also posted the same question in TJC thread. And I got the same answer from both

Everywhere I ask, seems like Cedar is the suggested choice, despite TJC is in front of our house.
So, Thank you for all your feedback. -
