:thankyou: jamespon.
Sunway Lagoon is only water theme park, the shopping centre is call sunway pyramid.MandyMummy:
Which is better for shopping, food and relaxation (not theme park), Sunway Lagoon or 1-Utama?
Thanks.
Shopping wise, no doubt, 1-Utama is the biggest and has much more things than Sunway Pyramid.
But if you are targeting young people things, Sunway Pyramid got more, because they targeting college students. They got a portion is like the Far East Plaza, or something like the young session in Heeren. -

Did our driving trip up Malaysia this June holidays again. Problem is that it clashes with the Malaysian school holidays. So was caught in traffic jams along the highway as well as in Cameron Highlands.
Other than Cameron Highlands which was our second time, we also made a lunch stop in Ipoh. We wanted to visit the charcoal factory at Kuala Sepetang (formally known as Port Weld). It was an educational visit as the owner (Mr Chuah) was very patient in bringing us (only 3 of us) around and explaining the charcoal making process. We stayed at Taiping which is a quiet. The driving along the old trees next to Taiping lake was quite nice.
We also visited Sekinchan in Selangor. This is the rural part with rice plantation. Our drive along the rural road route B44 from the North South Highway to Sungai Besar/Sekinchan was long and bumpy. Never would want to endure that one hour drive againโฆ
Anyway, we stayed at Firefly villa (which is difficult to find - no signage around) which is half an hour drive to Sekinchan. The villa is really a bungalow inside a kampong. Nice and clean with a small swimming pool. They have 4 rooms and would be good for a relaxing family stay.
Sekinchan is famous for the padi field and June is time for harvesting. We got to drive around large padi fields, mostly harvested already by the combine harvester. Got to visit the rice mills and understand how they process and pack rice. The tour also include a small pack of rice as a gift. They actually burn the field after harvesting and witness one and drove through the haze. So got to see first hand it is done.
There is also a fishing village called Bagan there and had a nice seafood dinner and lunch there.
On our way back to Singapore, we did notice more bad driving behaviour though compared to previous years. Lots of speeding vehicles, tailgating, road hogging and more worrying vehicles driving on the left side of the road shoulder overtaking cars on the left lane dangerously at high speeds at night! So beware of these if you ever drive up on the highways in Malaysia. -
Any sharing on kelong at batam? Looks like a good weekend getaway without electronic gadget n modern facilities but what activities can we do there ?

Is it a good place to chill for 4D3N? -
Other than Penang, Malacca & Genting, where else in Malaysia is good for chilling out in June for 4D3N pre-PSLE? I am exploring the following options, any suggestions or comments are welcomed!
1. Langkawi
2. Port Dickson (Avillion Water Chalet but read many negative reviews about the conditions of the chalets)
3. Avani Sepang Gold Coast (similarly read many negative reviews and heard nothing much to do)
4. Legoland Hotel (Legoland, waterpark, Hello Kitty Town)
5. Cameron Highland -

Kuching is a tad too boring, unless you head out to the caves and jungle (not something you would likely consider for a 'chill-out').
