My DS just got confirmation to go NUS High. Any of your kids go NUS High and regretted ? How many % stress level higher than taking A Level?

NUSH - results accumulated from year 3 to 6 tests, exams etc.
\"A\" levels; results depend on how well you in one sitting in Nov /Dec at year 6 or JC2.

What do you think ? All based on one sitting or over 4 years ?

      Hi
Does that mean year 1 and year 2 results are not taken into account to compute whether you have high distinction, distinction or merit for the nush diploma?
      Thanks.

        Hi
My DS has accepted to go NUSH. He went for science & maths olympiad previously. He went for DSA in june but didnt clear round 1. He got in via SIE after psle hence we were not sure if he can really survive there. But i encourage him to go as i see good value in learning computing studies as compared to A Level and best part is he likes maths, science and computing.
May I know what is the cut off point for SIE this year?

          Thanks.
Yes, the Foundation year (Y1/Y2) CAP are not computed or included in the graduation CAP which only kick starts from Y3 onward (4 years). This is also to cater to a group of students (about 70 ) who will join NUSH at Y3. This include local as well as ASEAN scholars, students from Vietnam and China etc.

The last graduating batch to include the Y1 - Y6 CAPs as graduation was the graduating Class of 2014.

          😄

Given his good PSLE results (to get tgrough SIE) with interest in Maths, Science and computing .. just wonder why your DS did'nt make it even in round 1.

However, since he has been accepted via SIE ( like he is given a 2nd chance to prove himself )..he is god blessed to do well.

I have come across a similar case. The student was rejected by NUSH during DSA round 1 but was subsequently accepted via SIE. The outcome after one year of study at NUSH - he did better than many selected through DSA.

I daresay what is more important is a student’s attitude (willingness to learn & interest in Math & Science) as well as consistency whilst going through the NUSH programme. Also, there are many paths (electives, 3rd Lang., Olympiads, CCAs, subject majors, honours & etc) to choose from. One has to choose wisely, seek advice, don’t take more than he/she can handle. All the best to your DS.

from personal experience, teachers notify students of weeks with many tests/high workload/due projects, so students should know what to expect. honestly, it's all a matter of getting used to the pace and school environment, and seeking help from peers/teachers when needed. after a semester or two, it's not all that stressful!

at least, for the core curriculum. signing up for olympiads/leadership positions/VIA etc. should be purely based off your child's interest and whether they can cope. i've seen a lot of my peers drop out of olympiads and electives after only 1/2 semesters and frankly, it's quite a shame because the slots are super limited.

Need to attend interview as well for supplementary intake?
DS entered via DSA. However, I am just satisfying curiousity as another friend with a child interested in 2019 Sec 1 intake has enquired about this - :?

Just wondering if ALL selected SIE applicants have to go for an interview. It appears from their website selected applicants MAY be invited for an interview.
