Do we need to bring tenancy agreement if our property is rented? It doesn't state in the letter.

Nope as long as the address of the rented property is reflected on the ID.

Were you at balloting? Did they really ballot out one poor soul?

Yes. I was at the balloting on 2 Aug 2017 under phase 2C of ACSP. 40 SC within 1km vs 39 seats. It was indeed stressful. In the end, one child was balloted out under this phase.

Hi I’m keen to explore ACS as an option for my son however the problem is he is born in the dragon year for 2019 admission. I’m also an alumni from one of the top 3 primary schools in Singapore however I’m more keen for him to attend this school as I believe it offers more options for IB education and also for their sports curriculum.

May I know how to increase my options for getting him in aside from moving near 1km from the school (if I don’t shift will I stand a chance)?

P.s. please bear with me as this is still very new for me as I was living overseas for a very long time and website information is very vague regarding the phases.

Hi if u are a Methodish church member, then u can apply under phase 2B. Otherwise, you will have to apply under phase 2C. There is no way to increase your chances at this late stage, aside from renting a place <1km of both ACS. The good thing for you is the rental market is very cheap for tenants right now. Just be aware of the 30-month law set by MOE and sign the necessary contract to be safe.

What u can do is to apply to your alma mater at phase 2A first, then monitor on the last day of phase 2B/2C to see the odds of getting a place in either ACS. Withdraw and switch school if got firm potential. That's the usual strategy.

I believe getting a place within 1km from both schools will help but won't guarantee you a place as there might be more babies compared to other years. Based on historical data, you will have a better chance getting into ACSJ than ACSP.
