Hi all, will be registering my dragon baby under nanyang primary's phase 2A1. Had a look at the available data indicating that phase 2A1 has never been oversubscribed in the last 10 years, but since it will be the dragon year, wondering if there's a high possibility of oversubcription and if I should seriously consider a back up plan? Thanks!

You should write to your alumni management to verify exactly how many alumni members have Dragon babies.

Every school (as far as I know) takes a predictive survey of how many current students’ siblings will be applying in that year under Phase 1. This is for their internal calculations to know roughly how many spaces will be left.

No reason why a popular school cannot (or does not) take a similar survey among their alumni network. They have all their contact details. And you can similarly push them to release the results of said survey, in order for all of you to make better informed choices/backup plans.

Thanks Zac's mum! Will write to the school and enquire.

Sorry to ask this silly question. If a school need to ballot in phase 2C <1km, does it mean those in phase 2C 1-2km will stand a lower chance and unlikely to get a place in the school? I am using grandparent’s address to register so will fall under phase 2C 1-2km category.

Sorry to tell u that if the school needs to ballot in phase 2C <1km, it means there will be 0 places left for 1-2km.

            Dear All

            Like to seek your advice.

If I register for the pri sch that is about 700m away from my house, but if it get too popular and if worst case I lose the balloting, do I still stand a high chance for the sch that is just across my house?

For both sch, I will be under Phase 2C (no siblings, alumni, PV etc) and i’ll fall under the first category of less than 1km right?

Balloting results will be out within the same day right?

I am looking at pri sch in Punggol. Any parent in punggol too?

Hi please use your postal code to double check on OneMap.SG how many schools u have within 1km. They will be shown in red.

U can only apply to 1 school under phase 2C. If there is balloting, it will be conducted on a separate date (not the registration date). U can go down to witness the balloting if u wish, not compulsory. The benefit of witnessing is u will know the result on the spot. Otherwise u gotta wait for snail mail letter...

If fail balloting, u gotta apply to another school under phase 2C(S). Whether or not your nearby school will have places left, depends on its popularity. Sometimes u gotta take a school further away under phase 2C(S) which still has vacancies.

I’m not familiar with Punggol so can’t help u much about that area.

Hi Parents. My boy born in year 2012 and we stay in the Admiralty area. We are looking at Canberra (within 1-2km) or Chongfu Primary School, but we are not PV for both schools. We are concerned whether it’s too late to join SGHK now to get in to Phase 2B for Chongfu. Any advice please? Thanks.

Too late to apply for PV or SHHK member or alumni (i.e. Phase 2A1) for 2018 registration. The only viable phase (apart from Phase 2A2) would be Phase 2C. However, you would probably not stand a chance for both schools in Phase 2C given that they are likely to ballot within 1km. Best to reconsider your options and look at other schools.
