All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Hongyutian:
Ya lo.. thats my worries
It's fairly straight forward:
1) SCGS (PV doesn't need to be within 1-2km)
2) RGPS (base on past stats 2C ballot heng sway got chance)
3) Last option school at my hse downstairs but also need balloting at 2c within 1km
Your plan should be as such:
- Apply PV to SCGS, RGPS and the school downstairs.
- You then further shortlist your options depending on the response to your PV application - you could receive anything from 3 responses to no offer.
- Work on clocking the PV hours if you are given an opportunity.
- If you have no response with your PV application, wait till P1 registration to see whether you can get an opportunity at RGPS at Phase 2C.
- The last option at Phase 2C would be to join in the ballot for the school downstairs.
- Meanwhile, look around to shortlist alternative schools for Phase 2Cs. -
For PV scheme, the school will choose u, not u choose the school. So apply PV for as many schools that you are insterested in, see your luck which one(s) choose u.
From there, it’s much easier to make your decision. Don’t need to worry here worry there. -

the problem is does the parent(s) have time to fulfull the hours required? For PV scheme, the school will choose u, not u choose the school. So apply PV for as many schools that you are insterested in, see your luck which one(s) choose u.

i understand for some schools, you literall have to call frequently to ask if they need PVs...if each PV session is only 1-2 hours, it will be hard to complete the minimum. -
Hi all,
I see that some schools are asking for proposal for the PV. Any idea what kind of proposal to submit? Eg. length of proposal, content etc?
Thanks in advance for the tips. -

my guess is, what can you do for the school?Hi all,

what kind of contribution can you offer as a PV?
what expertise can the parents offer and hours required?
can the potential PV be able to go to the school at short notice? -
Hello everyone, Thanks all for your time first.
I am SPR/<1km, qualified for Phase 2B and fulfill the parent volunteer scheme.
My question is, am I able to register under Phase 2B even though we are SPR? or still need to Q under Phase 2C (but our priority over those PR without PV qualification)?
Thanks thanks! -

It would depend on what your child's status is. Whether he/she is a citizen/ PR/ or foreigner. If the child is a citizen or SPR, you are qualified to register in 2B.Hello everyone, Thanks all for your time first.

I confused about this because I saw this \"Singapore Citizens (SCs) will be given absolute priority over Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs)\" everywhere, so not sure how does it applies to my situation. Thanks again! -

Thanks again![/quote]You will be allowed to register under Phase 2B as SPR. However, your priority will be lower than SC if there is balloting within that phase. Meaning, any SC, even if they live across the island or across the causeway (ie > 2km), will be admitted into the school before you. If there is any balance after all SC have been admitted, you will then be considered.
For non-popular schools, it will probably not be a concern. For popular schools, prep for the worst. -
Thank you floppy.
So means that under Phase 2B, my chance will be lower than Phase 2B SC even their distance >2km, they will fill in all the Phase 2B SC first then consider Phase 2B SPR.
In the meantime, Phase 2B SPR chance will still be HIGHER than Phase 2C SC and SPR. Can I say that? Thanks!
