Lee, the one with stroke and passed on - was it a lady?

Ammonite, I chanced upon your question this morning at 6am and I literally 被吓醒!I thought you know who was the person I was talking about which means I have exposed my DH’s identity. :nailbite:

The person who passed on after being hit by a stroke was a middle-age guy.

      Lee,
I was better than coffee? 😉 No worries, even if it was a lady, still so many people in Singapore with stroke yes? Kinda scary to think about that. 😓
The latest case I know of was a lady, leaving behind young children. The other one was a guy. The two cases were less than a month apart.
The guy last year that your DH had known - it was also following a stroke right?

Wake-up call to take care of ourselves and not push our bodies too hard. 😓

(sad, gotta change them all to past tense now...)
Oh yes, definitely more powerful than drinking coffee. 😂 Aiyo, jialak, left behind two young kids.

DH was not aware of the cause but felt it was not likely as that SAF guy was damn fit one leh! The one he mentioned yesterday was from police force, should be quite fit too. :scared:

This website has well written ebooks educating people who are diagnosed with cancer and don't know what to do.

        http://www.vitalcancerinfo.com

As a cancer patient, you expect your doctor to explain everything you want to know but in reality this never happen. At most you are given five to 10 minutes to consult your doctor. I thought that this website gives a good source to help one understand their situation and guide them through on what to do next.

Is there any way to prevent stroke? Is stroke genetically inheritance?

Lots of different causes, but one of the most common is hypertension. So is high cholesterol and diabetes. But there are other non-preventable causes like genetics, age etc.

In my limited medical knowledge (relatively extensive research done when i encountered my own medical scare), diabetes still can't be cured but it can be managed via lifestyle changes and medication.

Type II diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol are chronic diseases. They do not happen overnight but via a long term abuse to the body system mostly from food/beverage choices (exercise does help but what you eat/drink is more important). Gradually the system gets weaker and weaker and finally confirmed 'damaged' and can't work as it was anymore and so needs medication to help it work.

All subsequent efforts (diet, exercise, medication, etc) to maintain the system is more on 'management' to prevent the system from deteriorating with little that can be done to make the system back to it's healthy form (eg, difficult to repair damaged blood vessels due to high blood / high cholesterol, and the best choice is to make sure it doesn't deteriorate further to result in a stroke).

The moment one starts a medication for any of these chronic diseases = a lifelong medication as the system begins to get use to this external help and gradually loses its own ability to work (dependent/crutched). So the best bet is to prevent these diseases from hitting you by watching what you put into your mouth (esp for those above 40 yo as the body metabolism is never the same as before. Of course the best is to start from young with good diet habits of less meat, less salt, less sugar, low fat, etc diet. Kids consume far too much meat nowadays and this is worrying for their future health development.).

I think it will still take many years to develop a 'cure' for diabetes and the rest.

                  Sample reading:
                  http://www.joslin.org/info/will_diabetes_go_away.html

How to handle the last part of the journey?

I will try to make full use of the limited time, if I still have the energy, to clear whatever I have to clear in my house slowly (if by then I am still having the wardrobes of clothes, shelves of books, many pairs of shoes, etc).
