I heard that, on average, one third of the cohort gets into the Top 4 JCs, every year. http://www.sherv.net/

                WK11:
May i know what top 4 JCs are?

                RIJC,
                HCI,
                NJC,
                VJC?
River Valley High and Dunman High are not included right??
                RI (JC),
                HCI (College),
                VJC,
                \"???\"

NJC standards dropped a lot since the new P took over (heard the curriculum also changed out a lot), not sure it still retains as top 4 JC (or is it now NYJC).

Yeap u shd't include River Valley High and Dunman High if in terms of admissions, unless u r thinking of sch transfer as an option.

when we talk about Top Junior Colleges :-

we normally refer to the performance of the GCE \"A\" level cohort, because that is the common yardstick to measure All A-level students, regardless of whether that A-level student had come from IP or from an O-level background.
As such, we do not use entry point, ie. Joint-Admission-exercise O-level Cut-off-point entry as a barometer, to determine / decide the ranking of Top JCs.

                  Why ?
because it is the end-point, that is crucial. How you end up at the finishing line, is crucial. Not your initial, starting point (ie. the point of entry for JAE Cut-off-Point)

                  analogy -
In the same way, in primay school, again, it is how you finish at the finishing line, that is important.
eg : people look at your PSLE results, ie. the end point of 6 long years of primary school education.
And it is precisely based on this end-point results, that streaming determine and decide which Secondary school you get posted to, during S1 posting.

People don't look at your starting point, ie. which kindergarten you graduated from, or which primary school you once studied before, or had entered by ?

In terms of GCE A level (Science stream) results :-
the first 2 Top JCs are usually RI and Hwa Chong JC. For Science stream, when we mention #2 : normally, Hwa Chong come to your mind.

the rest : not sure, because some JCs nowadays are very, very secretive, dare not publish A level results openly, because probably their standard had dropped, and they don't want public to compare in detail.
                  eg
there was one JC that used to publish A-level results in detail in past years, but lately this year, didn't.

However, Victoria JC and Dunman High (although not a JC) had churned out excellent 2017 batch A-level results.

As A-level have Arts and Science stream, again got to breakdown by it.
Only MOE and Principal of various JC, capture such detailed breakdown. But, they won't release to public.

However, if you are talking about or refering to \"How Popular is a JC\", is :-
then Yes, you may use the JAE Cut-off-point Entry, to determine how popular a particular JC is.

So, don't get confused between definition of a Popular JC. vs A Top JC.
                  Why ?
because being Popular, doesn't equate to, being a Top JC.
                  They are different terminology

                      Hi,

                      This thread seems quiet.

Can someone share with me how is the school culture in Nan Hua High School now? Was it a popular school in the west that you would recommend? There seems to be a mixture of good and bad feedback I gathered and there’s not much I can search from the internet.

What is the school hours for the student? I don’t think it’s stated down in the website.

Anyone enter through DSA? Do you know is there class allocated just for DSA student or are they mix?

                      Thanks in advance for sharing.

Different days have different school dismissal times. The students have a lot of project works to complete. Like any school, there’s bound to have good culture & bad culture. I am amazed by the fantastic CCA achievements attained by the school & the efforts made by the PSG. The DSA students are spread amongst the different classes. There’s no 1 specific class for them
