My Daughter scored B3 for O level Chinese. She took this exam last year when she was in Sec 3. Her teacher now told her to withdraw from Higher Chinese in Sec 4, because HCL paper is very difficult and likely my daughter will score F9. However the same teacher at same time she told her that she has potential to score A1 for O level Chinese if she retakes this year in Sec 4. Question is, is it possible that there is such a huge gap between O level CL and HCL?

Any advice or experience on which centre is good for HCL in secondary school? Han Language, Wanglaoshi, or Fenghua?

Same here, seems like teachers are sending them away from HMTL. B3 ( MTL) will not be able to bring home a C6 (HMTL) ??

Understand that in my DD’s school, pupils can only continue HCL in Sec 4 if they score A1 or A2 in Sec 3 O’ Level CL. Is this the same practice for other schools?

It’s a school policy. So the individual school decides. I don’t agree with this policy because I know many students who scored b3 or lower for normal Chinese O levels, in fact do very well for higher Chinese

                  Nope, not for Cedar/VS/IJ.
Is yr child in a SAP sec sch? I recall Nan Hua has this policy. Seems CCHM also.

My son’s friends did this. Bs in MTL and Cs in HTML, helped them get into RI even : )
But it doesn’t matter, H1 Chinese is easier than O lvl HMT. Some of my son’s friends who failed HMT got As/Bs in H1 Chinese.
If all else fails, there’s still CL(B) in JC. A friend of my son got into NUS Law and he just passed CL(B) : )

Hi All, tried finding but unable to get the specific book…

Is the 250 Chinese Idioms book really useful or compulsory to digest? I saw many versions and not sure which is more comprehensive. Can please advise?
