I’ve almost forgotten about this. Booked all my tix and hotels for all cities last mth. I’ve put on hold my round trip bookings as not all winter schedules are out yet. Only visited JTB to make general enquiries.

Notice most major hotels <1km from the JR stations were pretty full when I did my booking. Nowadays, travellers book really early.

The prices moved up sharply y’day esp during the Cherry Blossom peak. Most pre-booked early to avoid escalating prices & disappointments.

          bebebub:
Anyone has experience forwarding luggages from Haneda Airport to Hakodate hotel or anywhere in Hokkaido? Do I have to ask for prior approval or inform the hotel ahead of time to expect the delivery of my luggages?

          TIA
I've sent my luggage from KIX and NRT to Niseko. I will usually drop a note to the Niseko accom to inform them to expect my luggage, and to place them in the accom before my arrival.

For takubin, it's always useful to have the forwarding address in Japanese, and phone number of the accom too. It also helps to have your reservation number so it will be easy for the Hokkaido accom to locate your reservation.

            Noted your kind advice.
One more question, please - do I have the option to arrange for my luggages to arrive 1 day before I check in, or has it got to be delivered only on my day of check-in?

            Thank you

I don’t think you can dictate when your luggage arrives - it depends on their delivery schedule, so sometimes it may arrive 2-3 days before your arrival to Hokkaido.

                  Cloud Cloud:

Temperature can drop below 10 degrees celcius. Will need thermal wear. Can get from Uniqlo. When I was in Tokyo last December, did not bring a shawl and my face felt so chilly when the wind blows. Plenty of moisturiser will be good
thanks for your advice, cloud cloud. i will prepare moisturizer for him...non oily kind since he is prone to acne.

I think Uniqlo had kept all the heattech before CNY? You may have to get alternatives from outdoor hiking stores, winter time, cold wear.
I think oil based is more suitable for subzero temps. Read somewhere that some people wearing water-based makeup at the Winter Olympics @ Pyeongchang got their face 'frozen'. It's -23 degrees C there.

Not sure if that applies to moisturizers tho.

Uniqlo at Seletar Mall still selling heatec and limited winterwear. Not sure about other branches.
