All About Home Addresses

No lah, they don’t. But One Map + postcode provides the definitive answer about where’s the cutoff. There are several unfortunate cases of neighbours living next to each other (landed house), one is within the cutoff but next door neighbor is not. Or same condo/same HDB estate, one block is within but next block is not.
Sorry I was trying to find out:floppy:
For 2C home address 1km/1-2km, may I know if the schools rank applicants by the exact km, i.e. down to the km decimal points?
They rank them down to the millimeter.
You may want to bring your measuring tape for any dispute. Preferably calibrated to an ISO standard.
Suppose there are only 20 vacancies left and I'm 0.22 km from the school (can say I'm the nearest of all the applicants) and the rest of the 20 contenders are further from the school vs where I am, I will still undergo balloting, right? Because there're 21 <1km technically eligible applicants vying for those 20 vacancies.
Or will they eliminate the 0.99km applicant (21st guy) and all the rest get in automatically? -
There will be balloting for that.

Zeit:
You would still have to undergo balloting. At some schools the competition is so “fierce” that the 21st applicant to walk into the room gets a collective groan and 20 pairs of dagger stares. For tipping the situation into balloting mode.

Don’t ask me why MOE uses 1km mark. By fairness logically should measure down to millimeter. But then that would really drive up property prices too. -
as long as you are less than 1 km, everyone will enter balloting, under less than 1 km distance bracket, dont bother whether you stay 0.6 km or 0.7 km or 0.8 km or 0.99 km : everyone will just ballot together, in the same pool

Hi gurus,
Would like to check if it is possible for me to rent a place < 1 km of my preferred primary school of choice, whilst renting out my current BTO residence? We are not allowed to sell our BTO since 5 years not up yet, but was wondering if we can rent it out instead?
TIA for all your help! -

Please double check your HDB terms and conditions. I recall that if the 5 year MOP is not up yet, you cannot rent out the whole flat. Unless got very special reasons like family posted overseas for work etc.Hi gurus,

i remember during my son's P1 registration in 2006, some people were hoping to have within 500m, less than 1km distance priority

Hi all,
I have a question regarding to the school address. If the school is currently on a temporary site due to upgrading works, is the old or the temporary address being considered as the school address during registration? I suppose it shall be the old one but I would just like to make sure…
Thanks! -
