I had someone from JB. He was highly recommended by my girl's classmate's mum.


He came to our place, did the measurements while we choose the materials. After he is done, he will come back with everything and install it. You will only need to pay him at that point.

We had 5 bedrooms and 1 living room. All full length, day and night curtain, it cost us around S$1200. No shrinking of curtains as it has been 3 yrs plus and we washed it before.

I subsequently recommended him to my other relative who also used him.

Sure. I got my curtains from https://hovement.com/best-curtains-for-living-room/, thanks to recommendation from my aunt. The dealer was so open in our negotiation and I was actually allowed to just do a small down-payment the settle the full amout after delivery. Honestly,I can't complain of anything to do with the curtains.

I hv a question for those who have blinds in their room. When it is windy and you sleep with the blinds down, it is always flapping? Or do most pple with blinds sleep with air con? Wondering if blinds are good if your windows are open most of the time?

my parents' place use blinds...and when it is windy, it is very noisy with the flapping.
i am planning to use korean blinds for my new place because changing curtains is really tiring.

korean blinds maintenance quite easy...use a moist cloth to wipe.

Not sure if you can call China or Korean blinds a misnomer. I think ‘Korean blinds’ is just a casual name used by local contractors as it was a Korean innovation.


I’d never come across any China / Korean blinds in my photo collection of traditional windows. Almost all the windows come with ornate lattices which double up as blinds/shades in the olden days (as early as Tang period). In ancient China and even today, most residential buildings are built in accordance with geomancy principles, 坐北朝南, etc, so they hardly need blinds for the main halls/rooms unlike Singapore houses which can have the worst facing ever due to land scarcity. But for the sake of privacy, Chinese/Korean owners would paste rice paper over their window lattices.

There seems to be more bamboo/reed blinds in Japan than in China/Korea, esp at the temples and shrines.

There are also Venentian blinds in case you forgot.

And French louvres, aka Plantation shutters in South USA.

There’s also a uniquely SG type of bamboo blinds which my sis bought for her patio - black & white.

What are “China blinds”?

I used to have all white vertical blinds for the study room. It made the study room looked like a mini office, kind of trendy back then.

They gave me this brand ‘Dexter’ (from South Korea) and told me I would be satisfied with its quality. So far, it’s only 1 month old and I can’t comment much but my MIL loves using it. Pay more for 100% blockout, Singapore sunlight is so strong!
