I planned itineraries in the past
I really have to find the motivation to do so. I prefer DIY travel
Planning for diy can be stressful n tiring . My dh usually has not much opinions , he let me plan but I become tired n stressful coz need to look out for gd locations hotels n strategic travel routes . He does not know which hotel we are staying or going till arrive destination . Dh prefer to stay in accommodation with house keeping . Air bnb is out at the moment , maybe when dd grows bigger and we can’t find quad room then we try again .

        Jennifer:
Today need to cook dinner 2 times; ah boy's at the regular dinner time, elder boy's later as he is going to the IT show to buy a new laptop. Elder boy has been missing dinner at home for the past week due to his busy schedule.

Why cook twice? I only cook once, and keep food for those coming home late. Now that one girl is in university and the other working, and my husband has meetings and exercise schedule, my family rarely all eats at the same time. There is almost always 1 person who will be late back. I just put aside their food to be warmed up when they get back. I suppose you have too many dishes! I put a portion of our 1 dish in a bowl, cover it with a plate of rice, cover the rice with another plate, and they (or I) can easily warm it up in a minute when they come home. It creates less washing up too.

You have something to look forward to
I don’t really know what am I looking forward to 😞
Don't be too hard on yourself - you've had a big upset recently, and your nest is emptying too. Your vacation is something to look forward to, but I think it would help if you find a long-term and on-going activity that you enjoy. A new hobby or activity, or volunteer somewhere?

Star can look forward to grandchildren in a few years’ time? In the meantime rekindle the romance with DH?

It's unlikely to be that soon - nowadays, girls marry around 28yo on average. I've been attending many weddings lately, and the brides are generally around that age or even older, maybe a year or 2 younger at the most. And many don't plan on having kids immediately.

Spending more time with her husband is a better idea! My younger daughter is the same age as SL's daughter, and I've been enjoying the \"half-empty\" nest to some degree, though I do miss having the kids at home more as well. Can't have it all.

To be honest, now that I have gone through motherhood, I would encourage my kids to start a family at a younger age. Start earlier (with family support) and you can enjoy the fruits of your labour sooner.

For what I observed , those with daughters will be gone grandparents earlier than those with boys . Girls norm married bet 28 to 30 , if the groom is 2 to 4 yrs older then mummy with boys will need to wait longer for grandkids - I got married earlier n gave birth earlier compared to my male cousins abt same age range . My kids are Sec/ PRI Sch , but theirs are PRI/ pre Sch. ...

Same here, but it may be hard for them to be so \"out of synch\" with their friends. Also, I find that young adults are maturing later, so they are often not mentally prepared for the responsibilities of being a parent (or even being a spouse!) in their mid-20s. Especially those who were very focused on academics and achievements into their 20s - they seem to need some time to focus on other things after that. Those who started earlier may have worked it out of their system sooner?

:scared: But if that happens, you will start worrying for her when you are in your seventies and she is in her forties/fifties. Especially since she is an only child.
