Me Time!

It is an assumption that bedrooms are meant for sleeping and most of the family activities will be in the living room.
kids enjoy staying in their rooms....partially because there is homework to be done, so that could be another reason why they are in the bedrooms most of the time. laptop is in the room as well.
they are in the living room playing Wii during the holidays or else it's meal time.
in the new flat, I guess it will be no different because I asked the ID to make their rooms cosy...but my work area will be in the recess. my master bedroom will truly be meant for sleeping, so there will be less lights since I am a light sleeper. -

I agree with you. as long as I have not moved in, I will renovate to the feel I want.
I guess for me, whether brand new or old apartment also have to reno. I am not the kind who can move into a place as is. If talking about limited lease kind of residences then yes, a brand new place with new longer lease will make more monetary sense compared to renovating an old one. But for freehold places, some of the older ones have a lot of character and are in fact better configured and built than the new ones so it may be better to reno than to move to a new one.
the new place will probably be our retirement nest...studio apartments are expensive. maybe downsize to 3 room flat when kids get married.
old condos are mostly freehold and bigger than the new pigeon units. my mum has difficulties maintaining even with a part timer...dad refuses to move because he cannot stand the idea of staying in a confined place. hall is huge and rooms still could put queen size beds and have walking space. -
@lee_yl. :thankyou: for recommending Sandhyas MA book in an (eons ago) earlier post... We're done with Andrew Ers P1 MA Companion & were wondering what to do to while away some time (holistic assessment begins this term), which brought us to his P1 Challenging MA. Though dd is an unwilling MA student she found the chapters fun! We're converts! :thankyou:

Wow, your DD finished it? :ugogirl:
I only bought the book once but both my kids did not manage to complete it. -
Sandhya’s MA assessment is really challenging. I remember my son was complaining each time he had to attempt that title.
