Hi, I just checked with dd regarding the above.
Don’t think the student portal is up yet but are u aware of the email service?
The girls can make a request for the soft copy of the test papers and the school will email it to them.
The service will be provided until the portal is ready
U can ask yr girl to refer to the details in her school email dated 26 Jan or type in the words “past year exam papers” using the search function for her school email.
There are instructions on how to make the request. Hope that helps.

          Hi all,

I am getting confused and annoyed...So recently, the girls were told to prepare something for speech training. First group: CL teacher said not graded. Second group: ( 2 weeks later) CL teacher said graded. Girls in first group were shocked.
Next, CL essay assignment. The girls were told to write a suitable 'opening' to suit the passage given. ( no criteria or restrictions were given). Some girls thought like P6, gave simple short opening, some gave long opening etc. However, those who wrote short n few liners failed the paper. Some who were not fluent but got 点题, got highest instead. The rest were just in between marks. I find that since criterias n restrictions were not set, this way of marking is not fair. My girl told me how her friend wrote n was given 4 marks (out of compassion). Pity those who failed. ( the latest test, qn paper did mention they wanted 开门见山/ 前后呼应)

So is this the norm? How do we know what is REQUIRED n what is graded?
          Hi snowpaw,

Happened to chance upon your post which was last year. But do you mind sharing if the Speech Training is Graded or Non-graded? This Speech Training class apply to all students in Sec 1 cohort right? I suppose your dd this year is Sec 2, so is there any Speech Training class this year?

Any parents know how to calculate MSG? For lower sec, Language Art is double weightage. History & Geography is 0.5 weightage. Then how do the weightage taken into account in calculating the MSG? Is there any formula in it?

            For lower Sec - Higher Chinese, Eng LA, IP Math, Science, History & Geo - Total 6 subjs. If each subj A1, MSG : (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) ÷ 6 =1 . Is this the correct method for calculating MSG?

              Compute of MSG : (1x1+1x2+1x1+1x1+1x0.5+1x0.5) / (1+2+1+1+0.5+0.5) = 6 / 6 = 1

110 Nanyang Girls' High students fall sick during boarding school programme.

SINGAPORE: Nanyang Girls' High School has suspended its boarding school experience programme after about 110 students went down with diarrhoea and stomach ache over the past week, the school's principal said on Monday (Apr 2).

The students were staying at Nanyang Girls’ Boarding School as part of a four-week programme for the Secondary 2 cohort to learn how to live independently.

Some students were taken ill last week and went to see a doctor. They were diagnosed with food poisoning and stomach flu.

In response to queries from Channel NewsAsia, the school's principal Mdm Ng Chuen-Yin said the programme had been suspended for a week. She added that most of the students who reported ill did not see a doctor as their symptoms were mild.

\"The majority of the students were back in school today, while the rest are recovering well,\" said Mdm Ng.

She added that the school had not received reports of any new cases of stomach ache or diarrhoea this week but will continue to monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, the school has disinfected the dining and food preparation areas as well as the boarding school premises.

Mdm Ng said that parents have been kept informed of the situation and that the school was working with the relevant government agencies to investigate the cause of the incident.

Do they have vendors that prepare the food themselves in the boarding school or they cater from outside vendors? Maybe the preparation process was contaminated somehow.
