Don’t tell me this is another PAP fault again?

Just take a look at property guru, people are still trying to sell their 40-50 years flats at ridiculously rocket high price. Who would want to buy? What is so special about your flat that as a buyer, I am willing to pay this price? Unless it is 1km to a top elite school, then maybe…just maybe and even so, I know it is a risk that I am taking because 10-20 years down the road, I may face a bigger problem of selling unless I price it down, instead of profiting.

          Price realistically instead of complaining!

99-year lease means end of 99 years, return to state, as simple as that. These are already subsidized housing at an affordable price. What more do we want.

I'm thinking, when the lease ends.... would they really let people go homeless?

I don't think they'll offer SERS to all, but they'll probably come up with a 10 year lease renewal scheme. Collect slightly more money, extend another 10 years, maybe that will shake all the old yet poor generation (death due to old age), paving way for the younger working class people to be forced to buy their expensive BTOs

I highly doubt they'll just kick all these fellas out. as mentioned, there are 70,000 of such flats expiring real soon. Imagine 70,000 X 4 homeless people on the streets 😄

40 year old flats are really pointless to buy...even after a massive renovation, the flat IS old. even if the flat is within 1km proximity, there is no guarantee getting into the school. after 6 years, the flat is 46 years old. with so many BTO units being built, who will buy the flat with only 53 years lease?
we stayed at the present flat for 20 years as 3rd owners. it still has 69 years to go. there is DTL2 and full amenities.
but we have no money to renovate other than giving a fresh coat of paint 2 years ago.
this is the reason why we decided to cash out and buy a brand new flat...reset to 0.

OT: like the phrase “reset to 0”

How many things in this world can we reset to 0?

unfortunately our age cannot reset to 0.
the lease of my new flat starts from march 2019.
