It’s on ST, so it should be true. Unless the "reliable sources" aren’t reliable!

His replacement is also a former CDF. Why SMRT always needs ex-Chief of Defence Force as CEO? What made them suitable as SMRT's CEO? :?

          Who else you expect?
          An engineer?
          Someone from SMRT?

I’m wondering why he decided to step down...thought he die die wants to stay there.
The next person who should be chopped should be the transport minister.

The ability to manage large nos. of staff and many different departments and operations, I guess. And an engineering background helps.

Have they considered someone with experience in managing train operations? I think this is an area that we may need foreign talent.

My girl china tutor was telling me that Singapore train issue is due to a lack of proper maintenance over a long period.

Ya. My gut feel too, esp Phaik years when she's so focused on revenue building & marketing billboards revenue. Let non-engineers manage & the problem goes deeper!

OT : Then hor, where will govt push all their lieutenants go? The guy behind waiting for the pioneers to go pte orgn & retire leh. So he can get some commercial exposure?

Quoting myself from \"Have u wondered' thread:

                    Zeit:
As we know, this is part and parcel of leadership renewal in the SAF. There's only 1 CDF post and there are so many SAFOS recipients queuing up to make their career progression. The incumbent has to make way for the next batch to flow up after 3-4 years, after which they will be given career options (as they are usually under the Admin Service). I'm sure they will take their pick from the available vacancies at that point in time either in the public service (PSes or Stat Board Chair); politics (if the timing is right); or GLCs.
It's yet again 'musical chair' time for the scholars and Chiefs. Neo Kian Hong is now PS of MOE (acquired some civil career experience). It's time to flow out, make way for another scholar to be promoted to PS, while he's rotated to a GLC.

He also knows Seah Moon Ming since SAF days, so that's a plus.

I suppose CDFs are preferred because they are supposedly well-trained in large scale ops, logistics, crowd control and intelligence. They should be familiar with MRT tunnels which will become air raid shelters during wartime. We shall see how competent Neo is.

Desmond Kuek should be moved to another GLC under Temasek? 🤷

Yes. One of the pioneer consultants already came out to say this.
