All the best to those children applying for the medicine school! I wish my eldest girl can work hard and get in too.

I see.. Thanks !
LKC MMI is still on going. Last session will be this coming Sunday.
Is your child done with both interviews ? Does he/she have a preference for one school over the other ?
Was told that LKC will make offers to successful candidates as early as late April, while YLL will do so in May.
All the best to your child !! -

Thanks, he already done it on 2nd/3rd of Apr for YLL. As for LKC will be this Sunday. Yes, from past years, LKC released the first batch of offers as early as 23/24th of Apr. YLL was some where early May. does your child also applied this year? I think both med schools are excellent, if both offer, will likely select NUS.

Thank you to all who gave me advices on Med school entry, really appreciated it:)
My daughter is glad to know that it is alright to be just a member of council and not necessary to be in EXCO, as well as taking on a H3 subject.
However, I do worry for her as subject combination is H2 Physics, Chemistry and Math with H1 Geography. She does not take H1 Chinese as she attained A2 for her 'O' Level Higher Chinese with distinction in Oral. My concern here is that as she does not have a Biology background, would it be hard for her to cope in Med School? She works hard for what she wants and has always achieved them, but I'm worried she might encounter a setback if she makes it to Med School but ends up not being able to cope because she has zero Biology background.
Please do advise, thank you!
And all the best to your children applying for Med School!! :rahrah: -

Did your daughter do Bio in secondary school? The local med schools have a number of students who took Physics instead of Bio in JC and they're coping. It is tough at first because of the sheer content and assumed background.Thank you to all who gave me advices on Med school entry, really appreciated it:)

If Bio is no longer a prerequisite, it is of course possible for a student to manage without a Bio background. There are several months between the A levels and university beginning when she can do some self-study to bridge the gap. Anyway, what I have been told is that A level Bio is not really that helpful in Medicine as it's too simplistic - the main value is familiarity with some of the terms. My concern here is that as she does not have a Biology background, would it be hard for her to cope in Med School? No, she took Pure Chemistry and Pure Physics in secondary school.[/quote]That might be a challenge because many of the students who did Physics in JC did do Bio in Years 3/4 (for IP) or O level Bio. -

Hallo, my fren’s son fm zhss did not do Bio in sec/jc. He said med y1 was really difficult but he is now in med y3 and he hasn’t failed any module. Btw, he gives tuition to 2 kids too. So I guess, it doesn’t matter.Thank you to all who gave me advices on Med school entry, really appreciated it:)

In fact, ds fren who is a triple science student in sec sch and took BCME failed a module, he didn’t do so well in the rest too. My son says his father is so angry, going to confiscate his fren’s car lol. -
