Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

I don't understand. You should get a school within 1-2 km that doesn't need balloting for that distance. Why do you want to aim for the school >2km? Then you should save the trouble and don't use your parents' address.Hi need opinions from KS mums/dads.... My girl is registering for her P1 in July and we are using the grandparent address to register.
According to MOE, school that less than1km will automatic fall under 1-2km when the guardian address is use for registration. If that's the case should i go straight to aim for those school that >2km (we are in phase 2C). Currently aiming Jurong as our 1st choice in west side.

Hi,
Can anyone give some inside or feedback about Farrer Park Primary School?
Thank you . -

I attended a public performance by their Drama club students once, which was held at the SOTA auditorium. Before the start of the play (which was pretty good for a primary school play IMO) there were some fringe performances in the foyer by their musically talented students (violin, guitar etc) - seemed quite impressive, although I think the kids were probably taking external lessons too.Hi,

The mix of students is quite “cosmopolitan”, which is quite the norm for a school that still has places at 2C(S). The students at the event were well-behaved, the prefects did well as ushers. But I admit that at such events (eg Open House etc), all the teachers and kids will put on their best front for the the public to see.
I can’t comment on the academic side since I dunno about that. -
Hi Zac,
Thank you for info, good to know that,
very much appreciated. -
Hi! I’m new here and have 3 kids.. will be registering for my girl in 2019. kinda overwhelmed with the registration now.. Would like to seek your opinions on the schools.
We live at Lakeside area and within 1 km is only Lakeside primary sch. I was from River Valley Primary (RVPS). We are considering the following options:
1) go for RVPS in phase 2A & send her to student care.
2) use my in law’s address to register for Rulang which is within 1 km under phase 2C. I’m not sure if I can still send her to student care since I registered using their address.
3) go for Lakeside primary under phase 2c.
Which option would u go for?
Thank you in advance!

Option 2 is out, since grandparent caregiver method will put u in 1-2km category. And u cannot use student care since the grandparent is supposed to be looking after the kid after school hours.Hi! I would go for Option 1. It is still a reputable school and not exceedingly far from your place. Unless from your own observation of Lakeside Pri students among your neighborhood...they behave like very studious and good influence for your girl. Ask your neighbours for their opinion, they are very likely to know someone attending the school, since it’s the only school for your estate. -

Thank you! Just to clarify, I checked that Rulang is between 1-2km from our house. This will also put us in phase 2c right?

You will stand no chance if you are >1km from Rulang in Phase 2C.
