Communication with School

If it is minor and doesn’t really affect my child and/or us much, then I don’t bother. If it is serious (affects safety/heath, etc) or goes against our beliefs, etc, then I will speak up. I understand the school system and how schools are run so perhaps, it makes it easier for me to broach the subject and with whom.

actually what ive experienced was in schools be it staff or teachers, any issues raised by parents they will try to pacify u on the spot. And wan u to leave asap or they will use plan B : die of natural death. jus delay until u forget or the child promote or graduate.

These days, I noticed that tele-conversations don't really mean a thing or get thru matters. Many times we have to write emails or formal letters to querie or to get a black and white confirmation. Is very texting on those who can't write well and just wanna voice our concern.

Yup, by the time you put your brain cells on how to voice your concerns in writing, you either have cool down or tell yourself HECK lah..just follow the flows!!

When my girl was in P1 and half-way through the term, she said her FT scolded her classmates words like \"double\". I was :?. Months later, I then realised it was \"devil\" and also \"rascal\" as well when she recounted what happened in class and what her classmates said (the children were impressionistic, learnt from the FT and applied in their conversations).


I was thinking of speaking to the FT or write an email to the principal abt this matter but was also concerned that my girl would get \"black-listed\" by the FT. So while toying with the idea, was suddenly busy with other stuff and sort of put off the idea for a while.

But curiously, not long after, the VP suddenly set in her class and at abt the same time, the teacher used other words to scold and didn't (or tried not to) use those offensive words anymore. I guess someone must have given feedback to the principal abt this issue, thus resulted in this positive outcome.

What I think is that we should give feedback if we sense something's not right, not just for your own child but for the overall development of the children in the class/school. It should be constructive criticism with careful choice of words used.

Agreed. Thats what i did, aiya nvm la..cause so busy with work already where got time n energy to follow up...
