Could anyone share how was SCGS O level performance 2017? In particular, the percentage of students that have 6 Distinctions?

More than 40% of the cohort scored at least 6 Distinctions. :rahrah:

Could anyone share when the school would complete the syllabus for Sec 4? End of Term 1 or Term 2? Then we could estimate the school would drill the students towards preparation for O level.

Able to provide the breakdown percentage of distinction of subjects, mean of L1R5?
          L1R5 Means: XXX
          English: 0% distinction
          Com Humans: 0% distinction
          Geography: 0% distinction

          AMath: 0% distinction
          Physics: 0% distinction
          Chemistry: 0% distinction
          Biology: 0% distinction

If your DD is only average, SCGS is one of the worst school you can send them to.Many of the teachers are still learning their trades and are uninspiring. They can go to class and say that you can go home and read it yourself

(especially the Biology teacher) . The Chinese teachers are just as bad. At every Parent Meet the Teacher. they will come out with the mantra "You should try to talk in Chinese, watch TV in Chinese, read more Chinese books, and you will improve". Do you think any students or parents want to hear that? Where is the role of a teacher to inspire and to teach?
And don’t you dare tell the form heads about their DD stress problems. It was suppose to be in confidence and being the trusty parent that I was , I thought they will know how to handle my DD situation. Instead, they went and tell my DD how grateful they were for my DD feedback. The teachers did not display any professional expertise and made my DD situation worse. Now my DD felt single out in class. The school scheduling of tests and external events were even worse. The most recent ones was the NAFA tests and my DD was expected to take an exam after that. Of course, if you are an above average students, you will not have any problems scoring that tests but imagine you are tired after the NAFA tests and you are expected to do an exam after that. I just want to let you parents know that SCGS have declined over the years in their professionalism.

              SCGS is an independent school.

Even O level : students paid $300 plus per month. Why would they hire un inspiring Teacher to teach, as mentioned from your above sharing ?

How is your DD grades? Is she in year 1? Some children take slightly longer to adjust to secondary schools, esp IP schools.

                    To UnprofessionalSchools,

Perhaps you could share how bad is SCGS (O Level Track).Generally most of these top schools the teachers tends to teach less as most of them are coming in with COP of 250 points. Definitely, the SCGS schools fee cost almost 10 times compare with normal MOE Secondary Schools.

My Daughter is currently in Sec 2 IP in SCGS.I have certain queries regarding the Subject Combinations for Sec 3.

1)Is the Selection for Triple Science based on the overall average of all the Subjects or just Maths & Science?
2)Does English play a major role in the selection Criteria?
                      3) Last year, her overall average was around 74%,whereas it dropped to 71%this year. With that score,Is it possible for her to get into Triple Science.Little worried because her Maths score is a bit Low(She scored A1 for the last two terms but scored less for the first Two terms which does not give her overall A1)while her Science is pretty good…
Can anyone throw some light on the same? Thanks in Advance.

Perhaps, ask (verify with) your Science / Maths HOD :

at the end of Year 2, is there a minimum (lowest) overall GPA score requirement including English, over & above your Year 2 individual (Maths & Science grades), to qualify & to continue with Year 3 Triple Sciences, SCGS IP curriculum ?
