E2K Science
-
My eldest was in E2k from p4 to mid p5. For his school, it was by invitation. Takes place on Friday afternoons.
In the first year he enjoyed the sessions as he like Science.
By mid p5 he withdrew as the session clashed with his other CCA and also, he was doing experiments after experiments and not enjoying it as much (Although I suspect he might have a few failed experiments as he said he was doing the same ones for a few weeks, but I could be wrong). Many of his friends had dropped out of E2K by then and it might have affected his decision to stay on.
Hope it helps. -
DS was in E2K and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lots of fun experiments. It reinforced his interest in Science. -
My P4 daughter is in the E2K program. She got in through her P3 results - I was told school looked mainly at P3 science results. There were no additional tests administered as selection to get into the program.
So far I am not aware of any tests or competitions within the program. She says they mainly do experiments and put up reports. I have not heard her complain about the program, so she is likely enjoying it and not much stress involved.

Hi,
Can I check:
1. Do you get to see the worksheets done in e2k science or e2k maths lessons? So far I don’t see anything come back at all for our case, hence very puzzled.
2. Is e2k maths something new which just started, or all along it has been there? Maybe I very suaku, only now then I realized there is e2k maths when reading the Nan Hua thread.
3. Can a child be selected for both e2k maths and e2k science, or can only choose one of the programmes?
4. Is e2k science included as part of the GEP curriculum as well?
Any parents can share on the above on how the practice is in your school? Thanks! -
Hi Parents, is the E2K program in every school? or only selected schools have this opportunity?
-
Not sure if every school offers E2K… but do know that a student can participate in both E2K Math as well as Science.

E2K was offered in 27 primary schools when the program was first offered to selected pupils of these schools. Not sure if MOE has since introduced the program to more schools.
DC's school only offer 1 E2K class, made up of 25 pupils. Not sure of the selection criteria. My kids (different year) enjoyed the program very much. -

Yeah i saw the number 27 schs mentioned but does anyone know which are the schs? I think those offering GEP will definitely be included.. which is less than half of the 27..deardear07:

The programme description is on MOE website, nothing hush hush about it. It is just a science enrichment programme where they do hands on experiments. Ds2 enjoys it very much. The process is what matters and the children must work in groups. Some kids get upset because their experiments fail, or their team members reject their suggestions etc. The teachers need to be trained in the delivery, so it is possible that whether a school offers it also depends on whether they have teachers trained to conduct it.
