With LJY effect gone in next GE..... next GE tough for PAP

        you mean LKY right?
next GE will be very tough...which is why MIW timed the news of Jurong Railway Line yesterday (my guess)...probably to divert the attention and sweeten things ahead.

the issues mentioned by thsheng99 below are very real:
        -Pending GST hike
        - Water price hike
        - Carpark, electricity, S&C increaser
        - Oxley Saga (washing dirty linen in public and bringing family problem into parliament)
        - Indian President election
        - Perennial Foreign \"Talent\" influx (so-called FT)
        - NSF deaths (will the 'tekan' nonsense end? too many young men losing their lives)
        - Teachers Parking
        - CHC saga (MP lawyer and gang of thieves getting such a manifestly inadequate jail sentence)
        - AHTC
        - PMET jobless (hiring cheap labour for eg engineer from other countries. PMETs getting low paid jobs).
        - MRT breakdown (DK out but not KBW)

we are struggling. MIW is squeezing blood from stone. University and Poly fees are increasing.

Wondering how Tun will form his cabinet. He's the place-holder for Anwar. But it'll take a while for Anwar to be pardoned by the king/released from jail, stand for by-election (I presume) and take over as PM. I give them 2 years, just about time when we go to the polls here.

Someone needs to resign as MP to trigger a by-election, or some BM cronies involved in 1MDB need to be ousted by the new PH govt to pave the way for Anwar's homecoming. E.g. Najib gives up his Pekan, Pahang seat.

HSR project will be put on hold indefinitely, despite a last minute scramble at our end to announce the Jurong Region Line (which is linked to HSR) yesterday which by the way has had no train operator identified, and https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/residents-and-students-welcome-jurong-region-line-find-it-confusing.

RTS is binding, so I guess RTS'll go ahead as inked.

Perhaps PM Lee should not retire at 70, cos his 4G musketeers seem inexperienced to tackle Dr M, his son & his former Nemesis - Anwar.

Tharman was the first to respond this morning. Maybe he's 'activated' to be the next PM-designate, in case our swing voters and opp supporters in Lion City also try to re-enact a Bersih in 2-3 years' time.

            Pray for 2 things :

            1. Wisdom of Spore new generation of leaders to face old Willy fox (he might 算账 with LHL for pally with Jip kor & get away with so much).

            2. Wisdom for Sporeans to vote wisely in next election. Owise our own turf will be in chaos. That's what old Willy fox want to bring the news to LKY for bringing his son down! People's precious vote must be cast with mindful consideration.

Better chat with my kids, nieces & nephews. Long time ago in .... :rotflmao:

this 93 year old is a willy one.
LKY not around to handle this fox...LHL and najib so buddy.
our turf is not really stable. worrying issues now are
            1) LHL may not be able to handle this old willy fox
            2) new PM doesn't have weight either.

If you are Tun, what would you do?
Being mindful that you are 92 yo (as a doctor, probably very aware that everyday passed is a day closer to meeting your maker), has a son that doesn't have enough political clout to consolidate or maintain his influence, a loose coalition (that could still disintegrate, thus leaving your son in a more precarious position), a weaken opponent (UMNO / BN) but still hold enough institutional power through years of relationship building / cronyism...

I would think picking a fight with Singapore is probably Tun last priority.

Hoping for Tharman to awake & throw in to serve in an impt role. I’d then respect our politicians as having made personal sacrifices.

Tun cabinet would be made up of the usual suspects. As for Anwar, he could easily replace his daughter's Permatang Pauh or his wife's Pandan parliamentary seat.

HSR may be put on hold and is unlikely to be cancelled or put off indefinitely. The KL-SG HSR corridor is expected to benefit KL, Selangor, Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan - all states (except KL, which isn't a state) that PH won last night. Why would you cancel something that benefit your constituents, thus surrendering a winning position over to the other side? Our last minute scramble to announce the JRL seems more like a 'favour' to help Jib gor-gor in those states (which didn't work out).

i hope picking a fight with the son of his late arch enemy is something he will never do.
everyday he wakes up to is a blessing. he is going to honour his promise to get a royal pardon for Anwar.

on our side, the list of 4G ministers do not have political clout. OYK newly minted education minister. CCS hasn't shown any result...HSK only one with finance and education experience, personally trained by LKY but just recovered from a major stroke. i still feel Tharman should be brought in as interim PM.

Announcing JRL is not to help Jib...i think it's an attempt to win back Singaporeans with so much displeasure going on.
if Malaysia opposition can win, MIW would be afraid it will happen here too.

Now that daddy won over the Lego set, why can't the son make sth for himself? Still need the father to help him build the foundation? Useless fella.
