[quote=\"galaxyraider\"]Dear all, need some help here. My wife was from Fujian and i would like to apply membership to SHHK for her so that there is a better chance for my little girl to get in a good school. However, we do not know anyone who is a member of SHHK. Any suggestion on how to get existing members' recommendation? if you have, pls reply my message here or just email me directly at [email protected]
Does the school accept PV? It might be easier to go through PV route than through SHHK. My friend joined SHHK and clocked double the hours required for the normal PV but in the end didn't manage to get the letter. -

I guess i am a bit kiasu ah. my girl is only 2 years old right now.
The only SHHK school that still accept PV is Chong Fu.galaxyraider:

Ai Tong, Nan Chiau, Tao Nan and Kong Hwa do not accept PV anymore. So, it may not be easier (or even possible) to go through PV route than through SHHK.
It's not just the number of hours clocked, the tenure of the membership is just as important. If you are only a member for < 3 years, I suspect the odds are not in your favour. -

But you are not kiasu, those would have started when the kid is still swimming in mummy’s tummy. -

Hi. My mother is a hokkien but my dad is a teochew. Can i join the hokkien clan? I’m registering my kid in 2021. Read this thread…since like I’m too late anyway

Cannot, as far as I know. It follows the father’s bloodline. It is stated clearly on your birth cert which dialect group you are. If stated Teochew then you cannot join. -
Hi All,
I’m looking to apply to SHHK. I read one of the condition is to prove I’m an ethnic Chinese whose ancestry can be traced to Fujian Province. May I know how do members prove that?
Thanks in advance for the replies! -

Oh I re-read the terms and conditions and it appears that my birth cert stating that im hokkien will suffice.
