DD's SA1 results is back
P4 to P5
Eng : 81 drop to 69
MT: 70 drop to 66
Sci : 66 to 73.5
Maths : 72 drop to 41
Really caught me by surprise. Didn't expect her to fail Maths when she been coping well with her 1st CA1 and normal practice paper.
Sigh... don't know if she can improve for SA2. Was still thinking of go DSA next year.

How to do I don’t know .
I am looking for math tutor in AMK area .
I am very disappointed :frustrated:
Even though the drop is not small, this could be a good wake-up call.
Sit down (coolly, no shouting) and have a talk with your daughters.
Figure out which part needs improvement... usually there are some low hanging fruits which make a big difference, e.g. Improve section A to see a big jump up. Use the June hols to recharge, rest and revise for next term.
Sa2 is usually better for the P5s but the kids will need to heed the wake-up call and persevere. -

If your are looking for ways to help your children improve in English during the June holidays, you may wish to consider our PSLE English Writing & Speaking Boot Camp (for P4 - P6 students). You can check out the details under Tuition and Enrichment, or just click on this link: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=87612&start=50
In the meanwhile, please do get your children to read more during the holidays. Children who don't read much are at a great disadvantage when it comes to tackling EL Papers. -

If you don't mind travelling, perhaps you can take a look at my website (blog) and FB page, for more information.

for P5 (SA1 and SA2) :-
do ACS Junior and ACS primary at Barker road (Mainstream) , these two All boys schools : set the same, identical SA1 / SA2 papers for the 3 subjects, P5 (English, Maths, Science ) ?
(P6 SA2 Prelim : they set the same)
if they are set differently : usually which school is harder, for P5 Maths and P5 Science ? -
I believe it’s only same for Prelim papers.
-
I can’t verify for other levels, but so far I’ve seen P1 and P2 ACSP papers are more difficult, compared to ACSJ. Generally speaking, you can use ACSP/MGS/RGPS English papers as the most difficult ones for practice.
-
for P5 / P6 English :
ACS / MGS / RGPS / Nanyang -
none of them difficult.
in fact, they are all similar standard, to neighbourhood schools set, for English. -

From my understanding, this is in line with MOE guidelines, to reduce unneccessary stress and anxiety on the students. However, there are still a few schools that continue to set very challenging papers. Level of difficulty although depend on each child. My girl does not know 100% of those vocab tested and made mistakes in cloze passages, S&T too. I think the standard is still higher than actual PSLE papers.for P5 / P6 English :

By the way, more schools will also start to cut down on remedial classes and only offer to weaker students. This is also base on MOE direction. -
Hi love1001,
Thank you for sharing. My friend has a P1 child who failed one component of the English paper and she requested for the child to be put in remedial class in the recent ptm. Teacher told her remedial lessons are now only for the weakest as per MOE direction and that it will be ceased soon, and because the kid still passed his English overall, he cannot be put there. In the end, out of goodwill, teacher try to give him some remedial lesson as and when she is free as the kid is in the in-house after school care within school compound so logistically easier for both too. At that point we were wondering how bad the results must be in order to qualify for remedial lesson and so forth, looks like it is true that it is indeed MOE direction. Gosh. We must 自己保重,gone are the good old days whereby my Teachers gave free calligraphy lessons and etc.
Hmmmmm, maybe my dd’s principal is a good friend of your dd’s principal too, everything ‘cut cut cut’ and quick to implement such changes! :siam:
