Any reviews about Cantonment Pri? I understand that it has a lot of international students due to lots of vacancies left in Phase 2C, 2CS etc. How is the school culture and the background of most students? Are they mostly from the nearby rental flats?

If there is really no choice left, will you all prefer Blangah Rise Pri OR Cantonment Pri?

Hi, i'm an SC and my zone is Queenstown. My best bet is Qtps which is <1km or APS 1-2km. I'm going for Cantonment PRI which is crazy >2km but reading up on the school/and comparing awards/distinctions/CCA, it's equivalent to APS if not better. It's my first choice. I'm just hoping that being an SC my chances are better even with >2km, I'm in phase 2c. Also Cantonment PRI's close to my work place. I like that the kid can be dropped off at 7.40am. And I'm just 4 bustops away from work.

Where did you find that CPS is at least on par with APS?

Qtps tho good, with strong PSG, and I know of friends who went there and even friend's kids.
My instinct tells me that Cantonment is better, based on their achievements (eg. Maths/English competition distinctions/winners, more CCA) and the fact that the kids are led out by diff primary levels. The school's learning emphasis is better and they're more updated and interactive.
APS has been around for 4yrs, CPS for 7yrs. But not just based on that. Speaking with people around, APS is just hyped up in comparison with the other schools in Queenstown.

APS is really overhyped. many register their kids there although there is no proven record.
there are several good schools in bukit merah.

Followed by Cantonment> Zhangde/Queenstown> Gan Eng Seng> Blangah Rise?

And usually oversubscribed schools are one of those. Parents play a part, not giving just credit on the schools. If the kid is good already, it doesn't matter which school. If we want better students then it's up to us to guide the kids. Not just the school.

don’t follow the herd blindly.
no matter what school you register, you need to do your part to coach the kids. teachers are not able to reach out to individual students. there are 30 in a class and only that 1 hour to teach. teachers are hard pressed for time.
