      FIL's op was smooth.

      lee_yl,

FIL got the steel rod replacement too. His hip was fractured across, so no choice but put in rod to help support hip.

Now hv to grapple with more elderly health issues relating to diabetes & heart issues.

THANK YOU ALL, for taking your ME time to help reduce my learning curve. Also reduced every family's stress. :thankyou:

      esteema,
glad to know your FIL's operation was smooth and you have also found a place for him to recover.
now you can sleep well and recuperate from your trip.

      :thankyou: Janet!

DS hv a proj to 敬佩的长辈 & do a 5 min video interview with grandpa. Suddenly, realized this was so timely & I mentioned to FIL this morning. He seemed very keen, so we watched the 2 interacting at his hospital bed for almost 3 hours. FIL told him abt his WWII & post experiences. It's a good bonding time & very touching moments mid-way.

Now that DS hv content, hope he can write a good piece of proj presentation & clip the relevant part of interview session. More imptly, hope he u'stands the values & aspirations of FIL & learn fr him.

Had been resisting Melotonin, but hopefully tonite can sleep after 11pm News. Really need to rest for ano day of visit tmr. Cooking 生鱼 soup for FIL post-op recovery early tmr morning.

          melatonin is only temporary.
you need to adjust to local time again. rest is crucial as you have to attend to FIL who just had op and without sufficient sleep, you will fall sick.

Ahh... need to insert a metal rod means his fall is quite serious and will need some time to recover.

Back then, grandma had to depend on us to help her cut her toe nails as she couldn’t bend her legs due to the metal rod.

Do you intend to get a helper? Else, I don’t think your MIL can cope.

St Andrews suggest we put a helper there to learn how to take care of her, like how to change diapers, how to carry her onto the wheel chair and how to help her shower. My mum and dad supposed to be her main care givers but my parents are almost 70yo themselves. But grandma insists no maid for her.

I was at St Andrew’s in the afternoon, grandma just got transferred over this morning from hospital. The environment here is pretty suited for recuperation. The in-charge told us the max she could stay here is only 28 days.

              Agree, Janet.

Still holding back & resisting it. If I sleep soon, will not resort to it tmr nite.

don't resist...take one tablet and sleep.
it's not a permanent thing. you need a good night sleep. i guess you didn't sleep well yesterday since FIL had op.
                take good care of yourself.

Ya. DH & I kept waking to check if Hospital called. Guess partly coz of jetlag. We both woke up same time & felt hungry. Had a nite-cap & chat abt options for the one-mth recuperation stay.

Yes. Alr hv in mind to get a helper for PIL. As our parents age, it's not easy to manage day-to-day, much as we want to be personable. Possibly taking over a new Mynmar girl fr a frd. She alr trained 9 mths so hopefully, get her to learn how to handle FIL. I'll be looking ard for a male helper, if can find coz there'll be need in future for bathing FIL moving fwd.

Today FIL was good doing his physio & walking a bit. Was very surprised but comforted. Doc indicated that he shld hv no ambulant problem.

FIL can get off the bed and walk already? that's amazing! he just had an op.
when mum had knee replacement op, she couldn't walk until the 2nd day.

Once we get over our jet lag after long flight which was delayed @ Helsinki, will be getting kids haircut done. FIL op today. Woozy head, tired & rushing ard.

understand...jet lag is the hardest to recover. as the body immunity is low at this time, it's best for the kids to stay at home at least for these few days.

Actually no jet lag , Eu n here only 6 hrs different - not much to lag ... 😂 Tired due to Long haul flight of more than 12 hrs. I m bounce n back to normal today, only tired the day after I arrived, now is busy clearing emails n work stuff, photos, soiled clothes, thick jacket_boring stuff n chores etc
Esteems is Super woman- noticed u were still active daily in here although in far away land, holiday ;Long haul flights ; fil ops -so much to handle yet still sounds quite energied around . ... u drink powerful Korea red ginseng “) .? anyway eat well n rest well as u will be going rounds hospital caring fil .
