2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

Dear Parents, I need your suggestion on which primary school to choose between Keming, and Princess and Elizabeth? for my daughter who is going to P1 2019 Jan \t.

\tFYI, both primary schools are within 1 Km to my block. We are SG citizen.
\tNeed your suggestion regarding to successfully lottery (It is definitely required for SC within 1km this year for Dragon Year BABy), children education, and convenience etc, whatever you feel to both schools, if you know, thanks a lot.

We did receive a colored phamplet from CC containing instructions about the registration phase and procedure. Guess that would suffice and no further comms via ie mail from MOE to parents prior to the start of the registration.

Dear Parents, I need your suggestion on which primary school to choose from Bukit Batok Area, for my triples 3 kids who are going to P1 2019 Jan .

All of them are SG citizen, but both of us are not studied in this area, so we are at Phase 2C registration
\tFYI, Lianhua Primary are within 1 Km from my house,
Then, Kemig, Bukitview, Dazhong Primary School are within 2km from my house,
My first choice is Kemig, but based on history, there will have no seat for 2C within 2 km .
So maybe left with Bukitview, Lianhua or Dazhong ? Bukitview will go thru renovation and student will need to move to nearby secondary school …and worry no seat for student care as well …

I have no first hand experiences with these schools. Based on historical trend, there is a high chance for it required for SC to be ballot within 1km. Need to monitor the take up rate in the earlier phase to see to confirm. Do you have other options for earlier phases? 2A or 2B? and back up for 2C. It may be a high pressure game if this is your only plan.

Gender for the kids?

Keming should be out if the TUR until 2B is more than 60%. even if its below 60% by 2b, it will likely be a balloting within 2km, odd may not be favourable.

For triplets, i guess the best option is convenience so closer could be better. Is your both parents' old school an option or is it too far to consider?

Bukit view traditionally has more take up by 2c than Dazhong (slightly). perhaps pay the schools a visit to have a feel of the school?

Pardon me but I dont really know how to assess probability using the historical charts ... my girl is registering this yr and I can only go for 2C. Im <1km from Holy Innocents and <2km from CHIJOLN. It seens like I may have higher chances at CHIJ, but im <2km. My friend said <1km has higher chance but HI is more popular. I like the focus on chinese in HI.


And since we can do online registration this year, is there any benefit to still go down to the school to register?

HIPS is indeed more popular. It’s only the recent 2-3 years less popular because the school has been at a holding site far away (ITE AMK). But it will be back to the original site in Dec 2018. So....I predict it will get popular again in this year’s registration. See whether you want to take the chance. You can go down to the holding site school on registration day to check the numbers before you register.

CHIJOLN is less popular and you will probably have a chance to enter without balloting. BUT if it happens that balloting is required for your distance this year, then prepare a backup school for phase 2C(S).

If these are the two schools you chose, then monitor the take up rate for each phases. Going down to register will allow you to see the actual take up in real time.

Historically if TUR for HI is above 40% for phase 1 or by phase 2b above 85%, then balloting within 1km could be possible. Even if a balloting is needed the odds is around 1.3 applicant per slot.

So ask yourself about your risk profile. Can bear the balloting risk? Or need a confirm place? OLN looks safer. For those who can bear with the risk, since it's within 1km, apply HI. If you cannot bear with the risk, you need to standby at HI on the last day and if the places is full, decide if you want to go to your 2nd choice.

I prefer to take leave on the last day and make sure I got the place rather than wait for the letter to come.
