I wanted to download the ‘free’ papers and realised that they have been taken down due to the below:
                      http://www.mathsplusmore.com/2018/09/04/taking-down-of-2018-prelims-papers/

Just curious, does the vendor really have a case against the tutor in a legal sense, who was just sharing the papers ‘free’’ so as to speak. Any lawyer mummies here can advise? My take is ‘no’, as the vendor does not ‘own’ the papers as well, since the papers ‘belong to the schools’. Not sure if I am correct?

                        Hi all,

                        This is Ange from http://www.mathsplusmore.com.

I have been greatly humbled by this episode. I have received so many emails and messages of support.
It was never my intention to go out of the way to sabotage anybody's business, anybody's rice bowl.
In fact, if you notice, i have been doing posting prelims papers in september for many years.

There are a couple of reasons why I do what I do.

1-- From the quality of the papers, you can see these vendors have done a quid pro quo with some parents, it's not that they purchase the papers of the schools or they will given some special copyrights to them (I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the proper terms} I'm sure these schools know about their existence, but they turn a blind eye to it because they know it benefits the kids at the end of the day.

2-- I have taught for more than 20 years, and i know most parents or at least the ones i was/am teaching won't buy these papers because they do not need the stress of more than 30 sets of papers weighing on their kids' shoulders. i buy them so I can pick-and-print some questions i deem important. So rather than having these files taking up space in my pc and just benefitting me and the handful of PSLE students I'm teaching that particular year, i thought I could share. And when it's online, parents (because let's be realistic, it's the parents who are taking the PSLE) can do what I do.

3-- I know I am not the only site that is providing free exam papers. So I thought it wasn't a big deal.

I did feel bad after I received his message initially and I tried going to his website to 'purchase' a few more copies as compensation, but he blocked my ip address. As i told him, I was more than ok to obliged him if I really am infringing on some copyrights law/rules, I only gave it to him because he called me unethical and questioned my motives. I just wanted him to know that gone are the days when you can hide behind your devices and call people names and accuse them and get away with it.

I'm truly apologetic to those parents who have visited my site and realised i have to take down the files.

                        Humbled,

                        Ange
                        :thankyou:
